Clemson Extension Rural Health and Nutrition

Clemson Extension Rural Health and Nutrition Offering free evidence-based health education programming to residents of South Carolina and beyond!

Clemson Extension community health agents work in a unique partnership with Clemson University faculty and Greenville Health Systems to provide health and wellness education programs using individual and group-based approaches to better serve Greenville County. Our purpose is to meet community members wherever they are in life to positively influence the social determinants of their health. Community health agents follow evidence-based practices to meet community health needs, reduce healthcare costs, and prevent unnecessary emergency department visits.

Cooler weather means it’s time for hearty, nutrient-rich root vegetables fresh from South Carolina farms! This month, look for:
🍠Sweet Potatoes – high in fiber, vitamin A, and natural sweetness
🥗Beets – great for heart health and vibrant in salads or roasted
🍲Turnips & Rutabagas – mild flavor that shines in soups and stews
🥕Carrots & Parsnips – packed with antioxidants and a touch of sweetness
These crops grow well in our fall soils and store beautifully, helping families enjoy South Carolina-grown produce all winter long.
