📅 Today is National Home Care Advocacy Day — and at Home Matters, we're raising our voices in Washington, DC for the people who care for older adults where they want to be: at home.
Here's what we're advocating for — the three things that, together, make great care possible:
📋 Well-trained caregivers. Home care is skilled work. Better training means safer transfers, sharper observation, and more confident caregivers who stay in the field longer — which means more consistency for the families who depend on them.
🏦 Tax credits for family caregivers. Millions of families are quietly carrying the weight of caring for a loved one, often while working full-time jobs. Tax relief isn't a handout — it's a recognition that this work has real costs, and keeping people at home saves our entire healthcare system money.
💻 Smart use of technology. The right tools — from care coordination platforms to AI that helps us match the right caregiver to the right client — don't replace the human touch. They protect it, by freeing our teams to do what matters most: show up, listen, and care.
❤️ If you've ever had a loved one cared for at home, you already know the difference this work makes. Today we're asking lawmakers, partners, and our community to stand with the caregivers and families making it possible.
