The CU Fall Prevention Team was proud to share their work at the American College of Sports Medicine Southeast Chapter 2026 Annual Meeting! 👏🏽✨

At this year’s conference, our team highlighted innovative research focused on improving balance, reducing fall risk, and enhancing quality of life across the lifespan.

🔹 Dr. Karen Kemper (CU Public Health), Dr. Brandi Crowe (CU Recreational Therapy), and Dr. Marieke Van Puymbroeck (University of Tennessee Graduate School) presented on the impact of an evidence-based fall prevention program on fear of falling among older adults with osteoporosis.

🔹 Dr. Jessica Avilés (CU Industrial Engineering) and Duleepa Subasinghe (CU Graduate Student in Industrial Engineering) shared findings on the physical and cognitive characteristics that predict balance deficits among younger adults.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to conversations advancing research, prevention, and community health.
