A prospective client asked me that during a consult call recently. My answer? “It’s in the vibes!” And while that’s partly true, here are some more tangible things to walk away with knowing you made a good choice!

✨ You feel heard and respected, not judged.
✨ Their style feels supportive and safe. You can breathe easier around them.
✨ You notice small shifts in how you think, feel, or cope, even early on.
✨ It feels like a collaboration, not a lecture.

Remember: the relationship itself is a big part of the healing. Trust your gut; your comfort matters just as much as the credentials.

What else would you add to the list of knowing a therapist is a good fit?

This week is for US.

For the mamas navigating pregnancy, postpartum, healing, and everything in between — especially when it feels like no one sees the weight you carry.

Black Maternal Mental Health Week is a reminder that your mental health matters just as much as your physical health. That your feelings are valid. That you deserve care that listens, supports, and uplifts you.

💡 Did you know?
– Black women are twice as likely to experience perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs)
– Yet they are half as likely to receive treatment
– Systemic racism, stigma, and lack of culturally competent care all contribute to gaps in care and drive unfavorable outcomes for mom and baby

We deserve better — and we’re claiming it. Let’s keep holding space for Black moms to rest, be real, and be well — not just this week, but always. 💛🖤💜

Happy Father’s Day 💙
To the dads who show up.
To the ones we miss.
To those who are still waiting to become fathers.
And to anyone holding both joy and grief today—
You are seen, you are honored.

During the perinatal period, LGBTQIA+ parents often face higher rates of depression, anxiety, and discrimination, but too often, their stories are left out of the conversation.

Le***an and bisexual mothers experience a greater risk of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Gay fathers report less positive feelings about early parenthood—and research on their experiences is still scarce. Trans and non-gestational parents face unique emotional and systemic barriers, including stigma, isolation, and lack of inclusive care.

🗣️ Affirming care matters!! Avoiding or ignoring sexual and gender identity in perinatal spaces does harm. Perinatal mental health support should be safe, inclusive, and affirming for everyone. 🌈

Today, we celebrate the strength, love, and resilience of mothers in all forms. Whether you’re parenting little ones, remembering a child, yearning to become a mother, or mothering in your own unique way—your role matters.

Motherhood is not one-size-fits-all, and today we honor every journey.

Thank you for all the ways you show up, give love, and keep going. 🤍

Happy Mother’s Day! 💐

This week marks Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 (May 5–11), a time to shine a light on the emotional journeys of mothers and birthing people. The Blue Dot Project 🔵 reminds us that perinatal mental health disorders are the #1 complication of childbirth, affecting 1 in 5 mothers.

The blue dot symbolizes solidarity and hope—a reminder that no one should navigate this path alone. Whether you’re a parent, partner, friend, or healthcare provider, your support matters.

💙 Let’s break the silence, challenge stigma, and ensure every parent feels seen and supported.

Today, we hold space for the mothers whose arms ache and whose hearts carry love that cannot be seen. Bereaved Mother’s Day honors the invisible motherhood of those who have experienced loss—whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, infant or child loss, or any path that made you a mother in grief. You are not forgotten. Your love is real. Your story matters. We see and hear you.
