January is National Birth Defects Awareness Month. It serves as a reminder to increase awareness and education about the potential risks and preventive measures that can help ensure healthier outcomes for both mothers and their babies.
Pregnant Black women often face unique challenges and disparities in healthcare that can impact birth outcomes. Improving access to quality health services, and ensuring that all pregnant women receive the necessary screenings and support can prevent possible birth detects.
It is a collective responsibility to create a more inclusive and supportive environment where every expectant mother has the opportunity for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.
