We're at a monumental juncture! Following the success of The Nanny Project: "You Can’t Overlove Anything,” the Sankofa Sol Arts Inquiry Collective (SSAIC) is preparing for a performance at the American Folklife Center-Library of Congress Symposium in Washington, DC, March 11-13, 2026!

Your continued investment is crucial. Our $34,800 End-of-Year campaign covers all operational and travel costs, with the most critical needs including:
✈️Equitable pay and travel stipends for our 10-person DC team ($13,000)
💲Rent and operating expenses for Lillie B’s House as a sacred space for artists ($21,800)

I love a good ghost story. But these ain't ghosts, they're real men with life stories.

Powhatan Beaty and Thomas Hawkins (respectively) are two Civil War Soldiers whom I'm getting to know. "Handsome young Chaps," as my daddy would say.

Come hear about them and what they've been telling me on October 28th, 6-9pm. We'll take a short walk to Camp Cleveland (Civil War encampment), head back to Lillie B's House, have some spiked cider by the bonfire, and hear their stories. Maybe you'll hear some for yourself.☕👻🎃🕯

This Halloween season, we're listening for the echoes of history right here at Lillie B's House!

Join us for "War Ghosts" at Lillie B's Oct 28th, 6-9 PM, as we explore local stories from an often forgotten civil conflict...the US Civil War.

Lillie B's sits directly on the historic land of the US General Hospital of the war era! We'll specifically hold space for the narratives of two local African American soldiers who may have passed through this land during times of conflict.

Your night includes an informal walk to Camp Cleveland with Felicia, followed by an open parlor about the Civil War Hospital, and group Tarot reading to reveal collective messages for you! We'll have LB's spiked cider, tea/coffee and desserts ready for you.☕

It's a chance to connect with local history and honor these souls. 🕯
