I have been working at a computer for years, and I finally purchased my first hi-low standing desk. I love it!

Do you get back aches or pain after sitting at your desk for hours? Many people do, especially if they are pregnant or postpartum, or already have issues with pain.

The key is not to stay in one position too long, to alternate.

If you are working with a laptop, think about moving it to a higher surface so you can stand. Using a laptop stand as I have in this video and an additional keyboard is helpful to get the screen at the correct angle.

If you haven't tried it, let me know what you think, comment below!

Does your low back ever feel stiff? The pelvic tilt on hands and knees is a great way to stretch out your entire spine from tailbone to head in both directions. As everything is rounding you want to exhale like you’re blowing on your thighs and then when you reverse the curve you let everything sink down as you inhale.

This is great during pregnancy and postpartum too, it feels amazing! You can do small movements if that feels better while you are stretching things out.

I like to do this with my eyes closed so I can really feel what is going on in my entire spine.
Give it a try and let me know what you think below.

I was doing a consult recently for a woman who was having pain for over 2 weeks which was continuing to get worse. It started in her right knee (an old injury) and now most of her right side had some complaints, including her shoulder, hand and wrist.

What helped improve her pain significantly was my advice to not always sleep on her right side and to avoid sleeping on her stomach. She had been doing both for years.

Sometimes we do things the same way for years, so in our minds that could not be causing or contributing to pain.

Nothing could be further from the truth!

So, friends, please switch sides. If you get up at night, try lying down on the other side. And sleeping on your stomach can be hard on your neck, especially if you always keep your neck to the same side.

If you are pregnant, avoid sleeping on your back especially in the last trimester due to compression of your circulation by the weight of the baby. Use pillows between the knees for comfort.

Your body will thank you for it!

I gave this ornament to my father (Grandpa) 33 years ago. It is a picture of my son, who was 21 months at the time. My daughter had just been born that year.

We also always celebrated my father's birthday yesterday, 12/23. . .the whole family. . . he always wanted a separate party. Now I think I understand it was just because he loved having the family get together and party, not really for selfish reasons. Although at the time we wanted to just celebrate it on Christmas!

It is now 7 years he is gone, and my mom is gone 4 years.

Wishing you all peace, love and joy for today, tomorrow. . . In your memories may you focus on the good, it will warm the heart.

Read a great Book Review for my book, "Back & Pelvic Girdle Pain in Pregnancy & Postpartum" in the most recent Journal of Women's Health Physical Therapy, Oct/Dec 2020!

It gives an accurate description of all the sections in a very positive review. I attached the review for you.

The only thing I do want to correct is that I have retired from over 30 years of clinical practice at MetroHealth Medical Center. I currently do virtual physical therapy (Ohio) and offer "book coaching packages."

And of course I write, teach, and advocate non-stop. I am dedicated to spreading the message of hope in reclaiming your functioning using a holistic approach❤️☀️!

There is so much information and misinformation out there. You can trust this information, which is so important, don't you think?

I have high blood pressure, have had it for years, so I am very sensitive to being aware of your blood pressure as part of your health.

And if you are having pain, your blood pressure can be elevated due to the stress.

Of course if you are pregnant you know it is important to have your blood pressure monitored.

Do yourself a favor if you do not have a blood pressure cuff, get one!

I also recommend that each home have a pulse oximeter, or pulse ox which measures the amount of oxygen in your blood.

So important if you get sick to really know how sick you are. Check out my IGTV to get the details!
