Have you heard of the National Nurses Honor Guard Coalition?

A Nurse Honor Guard is made up of volunteer nurses who perform a brief bedside or memorial ceremony recognizing a nurse’s lifetime of service and care. This may include The Nightingale Tribute, a white rose, a moment of silence, or standing watch.

Most families don’t know this is an option unless someone tells them.

For death doulas and end-of-life professionals, this is an important resource to be aware of when supporting nurses and their families. It’s a meaningful way to acknowledge a life spent caring for others.

Caregivers deserve to be honored, too.
