As of now there are no confirmed cases of EHV-1(Neurologic) in the state of Tennessee.

If your horse has had a Fluvac Innovator EHV-4/1, or any EHV vaccine from a veterinarian - sometimes referred to as Flu Rhino vaccine, you are helping keep things under control. We typically recommend high risk horses have this vaccine every 6 months. Vaccinated horses have been shown to have reduced viremia and viral shedding when exposed to EHV-1

All high risk horses (non-exposed, asymptomatic, healthy, afebrile) can be given:
Day 1- Pneumabort K (single dose)
Day 2- Fluvac EHV 4/1 *If they are not up to date on flu/rhino.*

High Risk- any horse that has been traveling and will travel.

Not High Risk-Horses at home not going anywhere and has not been anywhere. Just give a Fluvac EHV 4/1.

You can check for EHV-1 updates on the site below.

Equine herpesvirus (EHV) is a family of equine viruses named by numbers including EHV-1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 with EHV-1,3,4 posing the most risk for domestic horses. EHV is a common DNA virus that occurs in horse populations worldwide. The two most common species are EHV-1 and EHV-4.
