We’re thrilled to share a sneak peek of Cuyahoga County’s Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC), designed with one purpose in mind: to wrap our communities most vulnerable in dignity, compassion, and support the moment they need it most.

Every detail is intentional and based on SAMHSA’s best practices, so the space feels less like a clinical facility and more like a sanctuary: a place where someone in crisis can heal without judgment.

Set to open this September, the BHCC will offer direct crisis care, stabilization, and the full continuum of behavioral health services all under one roof. No wrong doors. No barriers. Just help, when it’s needed most.

This week, at Shiloh Baptist Church, in collaboration with Greater Cleveland Congregation, The Centers stood together to advocate for the funding needed to open Cuyahoga County's Behavioral Health Crisis Center, and that advocacy was grounded in what matters most: humanity.

We heard powerful personal stories that put a face to the statistics. We paired that lived experience with hard data that proves the urgent need for action. But most importantly, we witnessed this community's unwavering commitment to ensure that the most vulnerable people have somewhere safe and therapeutic to go.

The need is great, but together, our commitment is greater. Let’s make this center a reality.

Last night was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together around shared values and facts. We gathered to talk openly about what the Behavioral Health Crisis Center will be, and about the many actively moving parts required to make it the reality our community urgently needs.

We are deeply grateful to Greater Cleveland Congregation for organizing this conversation and for their leadership on this issue since 2015, and to Shiloh Baptist Church for hosting us in their beautiful, historic space. Thank you as well to every panelist and partner who helped ground the discussion in care, facts, and shared responsibility.

Most of all, thank you to the community. More than 100 people showed up to listen, speak, and stand up for neighbors and families who need a behavioral health crisis system that works.

This work moves forward through collaboration. We remain committed to a "both/and" solution that ensures a clear pathway to completing and operating the Behavioral Health Crisis Center, while strengthening the full continuum of behavioral health care in Cuyahoga County.

We have much more to share from this powerful night. Stay tuned in the coming days for video, photos, and additional reflections from our panelists.

A new front door to care is coming to the H.O.P.E. Campus.

Construction is underway on the 24/7 Child Wellness Welcome Center, thanks to funding from the Ohio Department of Children and Youth.

The Welcome Center is designed to help stabilize crises quickly. When children arrive, they will have immediate access to medical, behavioral health, and emotional support from onsite nurses and clinicians, all in a calm, noninstitutional setting.

While next steps are being determined, the focus will be on helping children feel safe and cared for, not rushed or overwhelmed. By bringing intake, assessment, and decision-making into one coordinated space, the Welcome Center helps reduce delays, confusion, and unnecessary trauma for children and families. It also allows key partners to work together in real time so the right decisions can be made faster and with greater care.

It means children are met with care, not chaos, and families are supported with compassion from the very first step.

The Centers and Cuyahoga County proudly applaud Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Children and Youth for their significant investment in The Centers’ H.O.P.E. Campus®. This Child Wellness Campus funding is a major milestone that will allow us to complete construction and expand child‑centered, trauma‑informed care for children and families right here at home. It also brings us closer to opening our Welcome Center, and we can’t wait to share more in the days ahead.

“This funding allows us to move forward with a bold, integrated vision for child and family wellness,” said Eric Morse, President and CEO of The Centers. “We are proud to stand alongside Cuyahoga County and the State of Ohio in advancing a model rooted in collaboration, dignity, and healing.”

This moment belongs to so many. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the partners, stakeholders, and community champions who have believed in the H.O.P.E. Campus vision since day one. Together, we are building something transformational for children and families in Cuyahoga County.
