Louis Burchard Millen, Jr.

Louis Burchard Millen, Jr., age 82, of Drew, Mississippi, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee.

Born on July 2, 1943, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Louis Burchard Millen, Sr., and Gladys Gandy Millen, Louis was raised in Drew, Mississippi. He attended Drew Schools and graduated from The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey before pursuing higher education at Delta State University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. It was at Delta State that he met his beloved wife, Jean Millican. They were married in 1967 in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.

Louis dedicated his early career to teaching mathematics in Mandeville, Louisiana, and later moved to Marin County, California, after enlisting into the United States Army. He served with honor in California and Germany during the Cold War and Vietnam War era. After his military service, Louis returned to Drew in 1972 to work alongside his father on the family farm, where he spent many cherished years alongside friends and neighbors. He then worked at Autozone as a manager in Clarksdale for over 30 years, retiring in 2024.

A man of great intellect and curiosity, Louis had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying fishing and sailing. He was gifted in physics and mathematics and found joy in working with his hands — tinkering with farm mechanics and engineering improvements. His appreciation for knowledge extended to reading classical literature and listening to a wide range of music, from classical compositions to the Grateful Dead. A faithful member of the Drew Methodist Church, Louis’s spirituality was an important part of his life.

Above all, Louis treasured time with his family, finding immense joy in the company of his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bonnie Millen MacMahon; and his beloved wife, Jean Millican Millen. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Judson Millen of Memphis, Tennessee; Marin Millen and fiancée Ryan Nordstrom of San Diego, California; Blair Millen and husband Stephen Carter of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Michael Bishop and wife Laura Kimura of Portland, Oregon. He also leaves behind four grandchildren—Layton Hay, Althea Hay, Morgan Bishop, and Megan Bishop—who will cherish his memory. He also leaves behind his cherished blue heeler, Sissy.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Cleveland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Sarah Miller.

Clifford Lewis Cooper

Clifford “Cliff” Cooper, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and unwavering faith. Born in Memphis, TN on July 17, 1947, to Vester and Evie Cooper, Cliff grew into a man whose life touched countless others through his generosity, humor, and steadfast loyalty.

Cliff is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine “Cathy” Cooper of Cleveland, Mississippi; his beloved children, Sean Cooper and wife Melissa, and daughter Yvette Cooper; and his stepsons, James Harper, Jack Harper, and Paul Harper. He was a proud grandfather to Colton Cooper, Clint Cooper, Ethan Cooper, Arin (Allen) Boutwell, Douglas Reynolds, Kristen Reynolds, Kelley Harper, Ally Harper, Hannah Harper, Timothy Harper, Airika Miller, Devin Jackson, and Alana Juelfs (Christopher). He also had 11 great-grandchildren that he was proud of. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Justin Lewis Cooper.

Cliff and Cathy opened their home to foreign exchange students, Marco Moreno and Simon Pellegrini. Bonds were formed over the years that stretched across oceans and lasted a lifetime. Cliff treasured each of those relationships, staying in touch long after the students returned to their home countries.

Throughout his life, Cliff worked in many roles, each one shaping the man he became. He spent time at the D&L plant, worked as a painter, and even served as an ambulance driver. But the work he cherished most was his service as a patrolman with the Cleveland Police Department during the 1980s and 90s. His years in law enforcement were among his proudest, filled with stories, friendships, and a deep sense of purpose. Later, he continued serving his community through his work at the Bolivar County Correctional Facility and, in his final years, at the Martin & Sue King Railroad Heritage Museum and driving for Cannnon Motor Company in Cleveland, MS.

Cliff had a passion for collecting treasures of all kinds—rare coins, sports trading cards, vinyl records, and especially knives. Each collection reflected his curiosity and appreciation for craftsmanship and history.

He loved the outdoors, and some of his fondest memories were made while hunting and fishing. Whether squirrel hunting in his younger years or spending time in the woods and on the water with his sons, those moments brought him joy and peace.

Cliff never met a stranger. Over the years, he formed countless friendships and meaningful connections. Yet the most important relationship he ever found was the one he discovered with God. He loved attending church, listening to gospel music, and lifting his voice in song. His faith was his anchor, especially in his later years.

Cliff Cooper will be remembered for his big heart, his dedication to service, his love for family, and his deep and abiding faith. His presence will be missed, but the impact he made will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in New Cleveland Cemetery. Brother Eric Harmon and Brother Jimmy Mangrum will officiate the services.

Pallbearers are Murray Roark, George Evans, Mike Mooneyhan, Bo Gill, Devin Jackson, and Larry Howard. The honorary pallbearers are Ethan Cooper, Tommy Taylor, Shea Thomas, Richard Munn, and Charles Warren

Romans 10:13 “For, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”

Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you…”
