Leadership Announcement: Cristina de Guzman Strong, PhD Named Next Editor of JID Innovations

The Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) and European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR) are proud to announce that Cristina de Guzman Strong, PhD, will serve as the next Editor of JID Innovations beginning January 2026.

A longtime SID member and Associate Editor since the journal’s founding, Dr. de Guzman Strong brings deep editorial expertise and a strong research background focused on skin barrier diversity and health disparities. She will succeed current Editor Russell P. Hall, III, MD, whose leadership helped establish JID Innovations as a vital, open-access forum for breakthrough skin science.

Dr. de Guzman Strong’s vision centers on advancing high-integrity peer review, expanding collaborative science, and highlighting connections between skin biology and other systems to improve human health.

SID is proud to support early-career investigators presenting at the 2025 ESDR Meeting in Antwerp!

Catherine Pei-ju Lu, PhD (NYU Grossman School of Medicine) and Jean Christopher Chamcheu, PhD (Louisiana State University) have been awarded ISID/ESDR Young Collegiality Travel Grants to support their participation.

Dr. Lu’s research focuses on autoimmune mechanisms in hidradenitis suppurativa, while Dr. Chamcheu is advancing work in melanoma and skin cancers.

In addition to presenting their research, they’ll connect with local host institutions to build collaborative ties through the ESDR.
