Applewood provides mental health services, social services and education to children, adolescents and families living in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.

Applewood Centers is a private, non-profit agency providing mental health services, social services and education to children, adolescents and families living in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties. Dedicated to addressing a variety of behavioral, emotional and learning problems, we provide a continuum of care from outpatient counseling to residential treatment. Services include residential treatment programs, foster care and adoption, The Eleanor Gerson School - an alternative day school, and an array of community-based services including psychiatry, in-home therapy, school-based counseling, prevention and consultation services.

As we wrap up 2025, we want to pause and say THANK YOU! This year, Applewood continued to provide high-quality, trauma-informed behavioral health care rooted in dignity, trust, and meaningful connections. Together, we supported young people as they built resilience and confidence, and walked alongside families to help create stronger, more stable futures.

Giving Tuesday is here, and today your kindness can bring hope to children, teens, and families who need it most!

At Applewood, we care for young people from birth to age 21 through counseling, psychiatry, residential treatment, foster care and adoption, and a wide range of behavioral health and educational services. We help children manage anxiety and trauma, support teens working through emotional and behavioral challenges, guide parents who feel overwhelmed, and create safe, nurturing homes for youth in need.

We meet children and families in the places they feel most supported. Services are offered in our offices, in homes, at our residential center, in public and private schools, through The Gerson School, and throughout the community. Our goal is to make sure every child has someone to turn to and every family has a path toward healing.
