That's where the transport, the pollution, the packaging, the waste is all occur, so if you walk out of your door and pick an apple from your own tree as opposed to one from New Zealand..."

Viburnum. Such a magnificent plant! It's so beautiful all year long, first with stunning white umbrellas of flowers, then the scarlet red almost transparent berries, which are extraordinarily bitter! Remember, though, bitter is good! Bitterness on your tongue evokes digestive juices and bile to be produced. Once you really taste it and allow yourself to like it, it becomes almost addictive, I can't pass this plant without eating one! And those berries will hang on the branches all winter long! The best part is the wine made with this impossible bitterness is absolutely extraordinary!!🍷

Red currants! All my currants started to ripen, but the reds are always first! They are more beautiful than gems, absolutely magnificent! Since I made a ton of black currant and other mixed berries jams last year, and we didn't go through much of it, I will be making juice to freeze for winter smoothies and wine for myself. These berries make fantastic wine!

Rosa Rugosa! It took a few years for the plants to establish, but now it's blooming from mid-June to late fall and produces the most nutritious and very large fruits! Its petals are being freeze-dried and I will be using them in my tea blends later as well as the rose hips! Besides that, it's just stunning all summer!
