Calmare Therapy NJ USA

Calmare Therapy NJ USA Calmare NJ USA provides non-invasive scrambler therapy for people with chronic nerve pain. Since 2011, clinical director Dr. Michael J.

Calmare Therapy (scrambler therapy) is a non-invasive, drug-free solution for pain management and medication-resistant neuropathy. The device works to relieve pain directly at the pain site, without reliance on medication. Via small electrodes placed by a specially-trained doctor, a ‘no-pain’ message is transmitted directly to the nerve for a period of approximately 35 minutes per session. Regardless of severity, pain and physical symptoms can be significantly minimized or alleviated after the 10-treatment series is completed. Cooney has specialized in the use of Calmare scrambler therapy to lessen--or even alleviate (remission)--the following chronic pain conditions:

* CRPS / RSD
* Fibromyalgia
* Shingles / PHN
* Pain from chemotherapy treatment / CIPN
* Post-surgical pain
* Diabetic nerve pain

🔶 A 12-year-old girl
🔶 Crutches
🔶 CRPS

Her post-fracture nerve pain didn’t respond to traditional pain management. It escalated.

After 10 FDA-cleared Scrambler Therapy treatments over two weeks, her pain dropped dramatically — and she no longer needed crutches to move through her day.

CRPS is not “just pain.” It’s a nervous system disorder. And it demands neurologically targeted treatment.

Scrambler Therapy works by retraining how the brain interprets pain signals — without drugs, injections, or surgery.

With thanks, we are sharing a parent's message to us after her CRPS warrior daughter completed scrambler therapy. We hope this will offer insight to other parents with children battling CRPS or treatment-resistant neuropathy:

"No one prepares you for the crazy ride that is being a parent, especially if that ride should include a diagnosis like Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).

She experienced a minor sports injury, a fracture. I watched for weeks, my child’s pain steadily climbing despite following the doctor’s guidance with immobilization, casting, and stopping of activity. She progressively got worse with her pain at a constant 9 out of 10. It affected her sleep, school work, social life, and athletics.

We went appointment after appointment, did blood work, X-rays, MRI, etc…with limited answers, until she was diagnosed with CRPS.

Treatment options offered were referrals to:

* Occupational Therapy
* Physical Therapy
* Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
* Pain Management

I did research and spoke with medical professionals in these areas, most of whom hadn’t heard of the condition. Those who had were not able to share much on positive outcomes of having zero pain, but more learning to live with the pain.

I was not ready to accept that answer. I joined support groups online where I learned about Scrambler Therapy, reading about children and adults who went into remission after having this treatment.

That’s when we found Calmare Therapy NJ and consulted with Dr. Jason Cooney. He was professional, knowledgeable and shared his firsthand experience treating CRPS with full transparency.

Even if we did not achieve the same treatment outcome others experienced with Scrambler Therapy, if it could reduce our daughter’s level of pain, we had to try.

Our daughter entered the clinic using crutches, not walking freely in 3 months and experiencing a 9 / 10 pain level as her new norm. She was losing hope that she’d ever get better.

After she completed 10 treatments, I had tears in my eyes as I watched my daughter WALK without crutches across the office. WALK! Her pain level had dropped significantly and she was able to walk again. Since treatment, and a few weeks after, we can proudly say we’re in remission!

Thank you Dr Jason Cooney!"

Children with RSD/CRPS **Complex Regional Pain Syndrome CRPS AWARENESS

A mother shares her 12-year-old’s CRPS remission after fracture and how Scrambler Therapy helped her walk pain-free again in New Jersey.

02/15/2026

CRPS put her on crutches. Scrambler Therapy helped her put them away. For good.

At 12 years old, Abby was living with severe CRPS—persistent nerve pain that made every step painful and uncertain. Only the use of crutches made mobility possible.

After two weeks of FDA-cleared, drug-free Scrambler Therapy, she walked again without pain.

🔷 No medications.
🔷 No invasive procedures.
🔷 No treatment side effects.

This is what a different model of pediatric pain care can look like.

If you or your child is living with CRPS and traditional pain management hasn’t delivered relief, this story matters. Reach out to talk directly with our Clinical Director about your child's neuropathic pain situation.

🤔 Cannabis is increasingly marketed as a solution for chronic nerve pain. 👉 The science is telling a different story...

New research reported by .daily shows ma*****na may blunt pain temporarily, but it does not reliably correct the dysfunctional nerve signaling that drives neuropathic pain. In some cases, cannabis may even interfere with how the brain processes pain over time—making long-term relief less likely.

That distinction matters. Nerve pain is not an inflammation problem. It is a signaling problem. When the brain continues to receive faulty pain messages, no drug—natural or pharmaceutical—can retrain that system on its own.

THIS is why modern pain management is moving away from symptom suppression and toward neuromodulation.

FDA-cleared Scrambler Therapy takes a fundamentally different approach: replacing pain signals with non-pain information to help the brain unlearn chronic pain—without drugs or surgery.

Our friends at CRPS RSD Pain Management Network offer tried-and-true tips to get through a pain flare. Check them out and share any of your go-to's below:

TIPS FOR PAIN FLARE-UP DAYS: Chronic pain can seem uncontrollable and unpredictable. You are having a string of great days when- wham! – a pain flare-up rears its ugly head. Flare-ups are frustrating, debilitating, and damaging.
Managing pain flare-ups effectively is as individual as the we are- may involve using several strategies. Realizing a flare-up doesn't mean your condition is getting worse, it's something to be managed, you can get yourself back on track by creating a "pain flareup" plan.
Here are some helpful tips:

Identify Triggers: Keep a pain diary to track activities, foods, or stressors that may lead to flare-ups. Don't push through pain; rest when you need to rest. Recognizing patterns of what triggers onset of pain and what relieves it can help avoiding flareups.

Pain Relief Techniques: Modern pain management approaches can include traditional medical, medications and holistic or CAM complimentary alternative therapies. Consider non-traditional therapies. Modern neuroscience-based therapies "retrain your brain" pain reprocessing therapy.

Relaxation and Mindfulness: Soothe the mind and body, quiet the nervous system. Engage in relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or yoga/tai chi to reduce stress.
Mindfulness practices can help manage the perception of pain, reset an over-active nervous system.

Physical Activity: Gentle exercises, such as walking or stretching, spend time out in nature, aqua-pool therapy and warm baths, gentle movement can help maintain mobility and reduce stiffness. Consult a healthcare provider for tailored exercise recommendations.

Flare-ups are a part of living with chronic pain conditions. Flare-ups, like storms, are meant to be weathered. Keep in mind that all storms will end, and so will a flare-up. You now have some tips and strategies to self-treat to get through the storm.

"RETRAIN YOUR BRAIN" book by Carolann Cliche introduces you to a modern neuroscience-based approach to managing pain better.

After 20+ years of living with unrelenting fibromyalgia and neuropathy, this 79-year-old New Jersey patient came to our clinic exhausted by chronic nerve pain and reliance on opioid pain medication just to get through the day.

⚡️⚡️She arrived with a daily pain rate of 7–8 out of 10.

Two weeks later, after 10 Scrambler Therapy treatments performed by Dr. Jason Cooney, DC, her pain is now 2️⃣ out of 🔟—the lowest it has been in years—and she has been able to dramatically reduce her pain medications.

Scrambler Therapy is FDA-cleared, non-invasive, and drug-free. For patients with fibromyalgia who feel they have “tried everything,” this therapy offers a new path forward—focused on retraining pain signals, not masking them.

If fibromyalgia or chronic nerve pain is controlling your life, it's time to take your life back. We invite you to complete our Consult Request card and Dr. Cooney will reach out to speak with you about your pain within 48 hours.
