We are happy to share that yesterday afternoon our staff received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, so that we may continue to serve our community in these difficult times. In a little over four weeks, our staff will be able to comfortably walk into private homes, hospitals, and nursing homes, all while knowing that their own health is protected. We are extremely grateful for the expeditious response of the City of Clifton Health Department throughout this pandemic. In the early days of the pandemic they generously provided us with a supply of KN-95 masks, at a time when masks were in extreme demand. And now they are orchestrating the vaccination clinic to safeguard all Tier 1A workers in the city. We are truly blessed to live in a “city that cares” and specifically a health department we could turn to in the darkest of hours. So we want to send a huge thank you to all the folks working tirelessly at the vaccination clinic in the cold and wind to keep our first responders (and last responders, like us) safe. On June 7, 1955, the NJ State Board of Mortuary Science granted permission to Joseph and Eleanor Shook to open and operate the Shook Funeral Home at 639 Van Houten Avenue in the Athenia Section of Clifton. What an honor it has been to serve the families of our community for the past 65 years. I think we can all agree this year has been a challenging one. We are humbled that you continue to turn to us in your darkest hour and pray for the health and safety of our great nation.

A pillar of the community and loved by all who were lucky enough to know her, we are saddened to share the passing of our dear friend, Sandy Grazioso. No one had a bigger heart or a more generous spirit than Sandy, and we were so very fortunate to have her work with us for the past 13 years. Due to the ongoing pandemic, Sandy’s funeral services are private, but a memorial mass will be held at a later date. www.ShookFH.com

Each year at our Christmas party, we ask our friends and family to bring non-perishable goods to donate to St. Peter's Haven. This year we’re proud to say everyone was feeling extra generous as we have quite the truckload of items! We owe a very special thanks to Claudia S. Metz of Batesville Casket Co. for donating those cases of canned goods!!

November is a month of Thanksgiving, and we will be shouting out our thanks all month long! We love our donors, especially those who support us with a monthly contribution. We're extremely proud and excited that our very own president, Nancy, is being honored by the Central of Polish Organizations as the Marshal of our local contingent in the Pulaski Day Parade! This warm weather has us looking forward to spending more time outdoors! And what better way to get out and enjoy the spring than to participate in St. Peter's Haven Bloomin' 5k Run and 1 Mile Walk!?
