The Engaged Family

The Engaged Family Her specialty is in trauma, suicidality, self-harm, and how these symptoms and behaviors impact children and families. It is a complex issue.

The Engaged Family's mission is three-fold:
1) To partner with the community to support connection with creativity.
2) To provide high-quality supervision to aspiring LCSWs.
3) To eliminate the high bar to entry financially for LCSW Supervisees. Amberly Fix is a clinical social worker licensed in multiple jurisdictions with more than 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and their families. She has a passion for supporting families through healing. To stay balanced, she loves to spend time with her own little family and try to improve her 10k speed. Full mission statement of The Engaged Family:

The Engaged Family's mission is three-fold:

1) To partner with families and therapists to support the connection between families and their children with creativity. By increasing communication and learning focused awareness, we believe families can thrive!

2) To provide high-quality supervision to aspiring LCSWs in the state of Virginia (with plans to expand to outlying states over time). We aim to help Supervisees become well-rounded and prepared professionally with a strong emphasis on increasing clinical confidence around client safety and challenging symptoms that is grounded in NASW Ethics and Standards.

3) to strive to eliminate the high bar to entry financially for aspiring LCSWs. We raise awareness about the issues surrounding the cost of supervision and the burden this often places on new professionals in our profession. Understanding that to offer this service for free to Supervisees, the experienced LCSWs that take the time to offer clinical supervision would do so at the expense of their own financial security, we created a donations page to help support these aspiring Social Workers if the cost is a burden. We have just gotten started, so check out our donations page. For more information head over to our website!

In the modern times that we live in, negative thinking tends to be deeply rooted. But don’t worry! The TICES method which involves journaling, visualization, and bilateral stimulation, from EMDR and other integrative therapy techniques, provides a way to convert old maladaptive neuropathways into positive ones.Let’s break it down:Triggers: Spot the emotional landmines—the conditions in which you go off.Image: Picture the worst of the triggering situation.Negative Cognitions: Observe those irritating thoughts — “I am not enough,” “I will make a mistake.”Emotions: Discover the feeling that comes up from the trigger.Body Sensations: Listen to physical responses. Then, grab your TICES journal, close your eyes and tap into the magic conjured up by the process of rewiring. Change those mental pathways, one powerful thought at a time. Your brain cells and your peaceful life will appreciate you!Keep in mind, TICES is not a replacement for professional help, but it is accessible to anyone. Let’s grow stronger together!

Uncomfortable Truths—they’re like those old shoes that pinch your toes. But what if I told you that you hold the shoelaces? Let’s unravel them together:

The Story We Tell: Our self-narrative shapes our reality. The tales we spin become the fabric of our existence. Uncomfortable? Maybe. Empowering? Absolutely.

Feelings Unleashed: Others’ words and actions? They’re like echoes in a canyon. It’s the meaning we assign that sets our hearts racing or soothes our souls. You’re the maestro of your emotional orchestra.

Memory Networks: Picture a string of fairy lights—the memories that twinkle in your mind. They weave beliefs—some radiant, some dim. But here’s the twist: You can rewire them.

Enter the TICES Journal Classic:

Insight Unleashed: Dive deep. Explore those hidden beliefs fueling emotional storms. Why does criticism sting? Why does praise light up your day? The TICES Journal reveals the threads.

Reactivity Tamed: Imagine a thermostat for your emotions. The TICES Journal guides you. Step by step, you’ll dial down the heat on those intense reactions. No more emotional infernos.

Positive Shifts: Swap the old shoes for comfy slippers. Replace that negative belief with one that fits—a belief that whispers, “You’re enough.” The TICES Journal walks you through this transformation.
