Alex was at the top of her game on the basketball court, until an ulcerative colitis diagnosis forced her to walk away.

She found a new path—one that led her to a national bobsleigh team and to advocating for herself and the autoimmune community.

Along the way, she learned to listen to her body and turn her experience into something meaningful for others.

Now, she’s building a community rooted in connection and support.

🌟 THANK YOU! 💙

As Autoimmune Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re deeply grateful to everyone who showed up.

Together, you helped create real, visible impact:
🔹You shared your personal stories across social media and among your communities.
🔹Cities and states officially recognized March as Autoimmune Awareness Month.
🔹109 landmarks in 19 countries lit up to shine a global spotlight on autoimmune disease.
🔹Advocates met with congressional offices to call for increased research funding and stronger federal leadership, while others called and emailed their elected officials to make their voices heard.
🔹Donors and supporters gave generously and hosted fundraisers to support research, advocacy, and care for the autoimmune community.

Every action mattered because awareness builds understanding, understanding fuels action, and action drives progress. 🫶

March may be ending, but this movement continues. Learn how to stay involved all year long: autoimmune.org/get-involved
