Face Addiction Now

Face Addiction Now WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2007 as a grassroots organization, Face Addiction Now (FAN) is based in Macomb County, Michigan. Many are between the age of 18-25.

Face Addiction Now is a nonprofit guiding individuals, families, & communities affected by substance use disorder by coordinating care and reducing stigma, through a variety of programs & resources, at no cost, fostering a path towards healing & recovery. FAN’s membership includes parents affected by addiction, concerned citizens, law enforcement, judges, leaders in education, business, and religion, and people in recovery from a substance use disorder. FAN has expanded to more than 20 chapters throughout the state of Michigan. WHAT WE DO
We work tirelessly to raise awareness and educate communities about the dangers of prescription narcotics (e.g., Vicodin, Oxycontin, and Percocet), as well as other drugs. We also offer compassionate support and services to individuals and families affected by addiction. Our initiatives include Hope Not Handcuffs, the Comeback Quick Response Team post-overdose wellness check, and Stronger Together, a 12-step program for friends and family of those with a substance use disorder. (For information on all the programs FAN offers, visit our website at faceaddictionnow.org)

THE NEW FACE OF ADDICTION
Prescription drugs have become the “drug of choice” among young people aged 12-18. Most who misuse these drugs believe they are safer than illicit drugs because they are prescribed by health care professionals. Yet, prescription painkillers are every bit as addictive and deadly as heroin, when abused. Nearly 255 people die from drug overdoses every day in the United States. Thousands more are struggling or in recovery. These are good kids from good families. And it’s happening everywhere--no neighborhood is immune. Be informed. Knowledge saves lives. TOGETHER WE CAN DO MORE
Join us in keeping our families and communities safe:
• Challenge doctors and dentists to prescribe non-narcotic painkillers for you and your family
• Safeguard narcotic painkillers and dispose of unused medications responsibly
• Talk to your children about the dangers of abusing prescription medications and heroin use
If you suspect a loved one is in trouble, seek help immediately.

Several FAN team members spent Tuesday and Wednesday participating in Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), a two-day workshop that teaches participants how to recognize when someone may be at risk of su***de and how to help keep them safe.

This important training equips participants with the skills to better understand attitudes around su***de, guide someone through a crisis, and help develop effective safety plans.

A special thank-you to Jewish Family Service of Metro Detroit and the ASIST training team for offering such a meaningful and impactful workshop. We’re grateful for opportunities like this that allow our staff to continue learning and strengthening the support we provide to our community. 💙

It's raining. It's Saturday.

And there's a team sitting at our office right now, dialing through a list of every runner, walker, and team captain from last year's Run Drugs Out of Town.

Not because they had to. Because they wanted to.

Asking one question: Are you ready for June 27th?

When you show up on June 27th, you're surrounded by people who've been where you've been. Some are there for the first time. Some have been coming back for years. And every one of them is what keeps real solutions moving forward for people in recovery and the families who love them.

To the telethon team who came in on their day off — this is what showing up looks like. Thank you.

🌟 Region 8 Feature | Social Work Month 2026

We are proud to spotlight Face Addiction Now (FAN) as Region 8’s featured agency for Social Work Month 2026!

Nominated by Region 8 Representative Chelsea Campbell, FAN serves as a critical anchor for substance use disorder services, recovery support, and harm reduction across Michigan — meeting individuals and families where they are with compassion, dignity, and expertise.

“Face Addiction Now (FAN) has become a critical anchor for substance use disorder (SUD) services, recovery support, and harm reduction across Michigan. Its multidisciplinary team meets people where they are, often at their most vulnerable moments. FAN uplifts individuals and communities by centering hope, recovery, and self-determination. It defends social justice and human rights by challenging stigma and expanding access to care. And it transforms systems through harm reduction, peer-informed practice, and cross-sector collaboration.”

FAN’s integration of professional social work practice with lived-experience leadership exemplifies this year’s theme: Social Work: Uplift. Defend. Transform.

Thank you to the entire FAN team for the life-changing work you do every day across Region 8 and beyond. 💙
