Help make Halloween accessible and fun for all with just a few small tweaks! 🎃👻

🍬 Keep a clear, well-lit path available for trick or treaters, and set up in an accessible spot to hand out the goodies
🦇 Avoid strobe lights, scary music, or loud sound effects
🪀 Have non-food items or candy alternatives available
🧙‍♀️ Don't require a verbal 'Trick or Treat'

Halloween should be fun (and safe!) for everyone! 🧛🕷️

💡𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰: In Michigan, nearly 13% of households — roughly 1.4 million residents — depend on SNAP or another food assistance program.

According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services:

𝟒𝟑% of Michigan SNAP recipients are families with children.
𝟑𝟔% are families that include older adults or people with disabilities.
𝟒𝟗𝟐,𝟐𝟐𝟓 children benefit from SNAP.
𝟑𝟖,𝟓𝟏𝟑 veterans participate in the program.
𝟓𝟏% of households include a person with a disability.
𝟕𝟖% of households include someone with earned income.

𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐮𝐬 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐩 in coverage for those we serve and our workers who support them by donating dry or canned goods, other non-perishable items, gift cards, or cash, to ensure that 𝐧𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐲.

Macomb County Community Mental Health’s Substance Use Engagement Center is officially open – bringing 24/7 short-term crisis intervention care to the community.

The center serves as an alternative to emergency room care or jail, providing individuals a safe place to stay and access to long-term care and treatment services. Individuals must call the MCCMH Crisis Line at 586-307-9100 for a screening and referral to the Engagement Center.
