Applied BioMechanics Massage Therapy and Bodywork

Applied BioMechanics Massage Therapy and Bodywork Applied Bio-Mechanics Massage Therapy & Bodywork is located in Clinton, Arkansas. However, my passion for the healing arts began many years before 2006.

Services provided are massage therapy, Applied Bio-Mechanics, CranioSacral Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage Massage, prenatal massage and more. I graduated from Professional Massage Training Center, Springfield, Missouri, in 2006. Since then I have studied and proficiently practiced many modalities including massage therapy, lymphatic drainage, precision neuromuscular therapy, and prenatal massage. In 1996, I received a bodywork session from Ken Ladd utilizing Applied Bio-Mechanics and Cranial Sacral Therapy. I was astonished at the results. I hounded Ken to teach me this amazing therapy but he told me that if I was serious, I must go to massage therapy school and become legally certified to put my hands on people. Ten years later, after receiving my massage therapy license and at last attending Ken’s Applied Bio-Mechanics class, I learned that he had only told me that because I was obviously lost with no plan for the future. He was right. That one day in Ponca, Arkansas, in 1996, however, would set my future career, passions, and life’s work on a singular path, and I am eternally grateful. After completing the Applied Bio-Mechanics course, I took Ken’s Cranial Sacral Therapy class, and these have become the foundation of my practice. The combination of these in one session is what I call “The Work.”

As I look excitedly to the future, I’m beginning the next phase in my chosen life’s work. Ken has given his blessing for me to begin teaching his courses to others. I’ll be working with him one on one to assure the teaching is authentic, correct, and clear. I am excited to share my expertise and love of The Work with all who are ready to learn it.

Now for updates! This coming Tuesday, my name will officially be changing from Hutchinson to Fisher, my maiden name. You will see old business cards and brochures around but I will be transitioning to new business cards and marketing material. Please be patient as these changes take place. I appreciate all the support and love I have received through this difficult time. Onward and upward!

I have been looking for local networking opportunities for professionals and I am not seeing it. I have checked out the local Chamber of Commerce and there doesn’t seem to be many events where professionals can network and find out about what all is offered. This will not do. I am going to put together a group on Facebook and enlist the help of a few local businesses that would like to be involved, to set up regularly scheduled events where networking of local professionals can take place. There are so many talented and entrepreneurial people in our area. This is an opportunity that we can not allow ourselves to miss. If you are a local professional and would like to share your thoughts and ideas, please reach out to me. I certainly don’t know everything that would make it truly great and I want to hear your ideas.
Other than that, it is business as usual here in Bio-Mechanics land. I look forward to working with you soon and I hope you have a stellar week. Thank you for being a wonderful client. I will see you soon!

I am changing my hours a bit. One thing I learned in the self reflection that comes with the class I took, was that I work too much and need to devote more time to my family. Monday through Thursday, I will be open 10:00 to 5:00 and Friday I will be open from 11:00 to 6:00. Of course, if you need to come in later, I can make the decision to stay late so please ask if you need to come in outside of the normal work hours but these hours will be what is available to book online. I have been working past 7:00 some evenings and that is simply too much. I hope this doesn't cause too much inconvenience.

What was I learning in West Palm Beach, Florida this last week? Let me tell you! In June of this year, I learned SER1 which is SomatoEmotional Release. Basically it is a more advanced form of CranioSacral Therapy. This last week, I took SER2 which is even more advanced. I didn't learn new techniques, as far as, placing my hands on a body and manipulating it. What I did learn was how to deepen my presence with the client, to be there, to be neutral, and to reach deeper levels profound release in the session. My work is forever changed. I will continue to study the books we were suggested. We studied Fritz Perls, the man who developed Gestalt Therapy, Carl Jung, a psychoanalyst whose scope of work cannot be condenced to a sentence, and Roberto Assagioli who was the first psychiatrist to look at the psyche holistically, rather than just the basement, like Freud. I cannot possibly share all I have learned but know that I am going to be deeply studying the inner work suggested by these individuals so that I can better help my clients, especially if we are going to do somatic work together. If you are interested in SomatoEmotional Release, it will be imperitive that we do a few CranioSacral sessions before going deeper. You are an onion. You have layers. You are not really an onion but I like to picture the scene from Shrek where he is describing to donkey the layers of his personality. Here is a favorite quote from this weekend. I do not know who said it as it was said by one of my teacher's mentors.
"Lose your mind and come to your senses"
We are so in our intellect that we are out of touch with our feelings. These ignored parts of ourselves will manifest in our physical bodies as discomfort if we continue to ignore them. This work helps to discover those parts affecting the body and begin the work of dispelling the discomfort. The work itself is profound and you need to know that when doing deep work like this, it may not always be comfortable. Digging into our psyches can be very uncomfortable. But growth is wonderful. If we are able to show up for ourselves in a willing and honest manner, we can work through the chaos of our hidden parts. It's such a beautiful process. If you are interested, reach out to me and we will develop a plan together. You do need to know that this is not a replacement for good therapy with a licensed counselor, psychologist, or psychiatrist. This works beautifully in conjunction with those therapies.

I have one more week of actual vacation in Orlando with old friends. I will be relaxing and having fun. I return Friday and next week, I return to work. I look forward to showing you what I have learned and I am willing and ready to bring a more integrated massage therapist to the table when working with you. The more work I do with myself, the better I can be present for you.

I didn't write this but it is right on and I want to share it. Regarding cupping marks:
"As a CMT and a Doctorate of Acupuncture student, I find this post will help educate many who are still referring to cup marks as ‘bruises’ when in fact that’s not even remotely accurate.

The marks indicate the pathogenic factors which can give practitioners clues about their client’s condition when properly trained in this modality.

Cupping Marks vs. Bruises

Bruises (Contusions)
• Cause: Direct trauma or impact that damages tissue and blood vessels.
• Mechanism: Capillaries break → blood leaks into tissue → discoloration.
• Presentation: Painful, tender to touch, irregular in shape.
• Healing: Goes through color stages (red → purple → green → yellow → gone).

Cupping Marks
• Cause: Negative pressure (suction) draws blood and fluids to the surface.
• Mechanism: Local vasodilation + rupture of very tiny superficial capillaries (NOT trauma).
• Presentation: Circular, uniform marks, painless or mildly sore, fade in a few days.
• Healing: Color reflects stagnation and fades without the same stages as bruises.

Color Meanings of Cupping Marks in TCM
• Light pink / no mark → Little to no stagnation.
• Bright red → Heat, acute condition.
• Purple / dark → Blood stasis, chronic stagnation.
• Brownish → Long-term stagnation, possibly poor circulation.
• No mark at all → Sometimes indicates deficiency (Qi/Blood deficiency).

Key Differences
• Intentional vs. Accidental: Cupping marks are therapeutic; bruises are injury.
• Pain: Bruises are painful; cupping marks are usually painless.
• Healing: Bruises = trauma recovery; cupping marks = circulation clearing.

✨ So when you explain to clients:

“Cupping doesn’t cause bruises — it creates marks from increased circulation and the release of stagnation. Bruises come from trauma; cupping marks are signs of healing.” "
