Ocean Meadow provides local families with specialized dementia care in a home-like setting! Our focus is simple—quality of life.

Ocean Meadow is a specialized memory care community located in the heart of Clinton, just moments from the harbor. We are privately owned, which fosters a unique, homelike atmosphere and extremely tight knit relationships between our team, residents, and their families. Ocean Meadow offers a 24/7 onsite nursing team and provides care for all stages of Alzheimer's and related dementias. Memory care specific programming is tailored to the individual needs, interests, and preferences of those that we are privileged to care for. We use recreation and laughter as a gateway to maintain physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and social wellbeing. We develop unique and creative programs as opportunities to create a sense of purpose.

We honored our Veterans today with a beautiful pinning ceremony hosted by Athena Hospice, led by their chaplain who is a Veteran himself!🇺🇸Residents proudly accepted their plaques, and were personally recognized for their service. We finished off the afternoon with patriotic singalongs and red white and blue treats. Today we honor the service, sacrifice, and courage of all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces—thank you for your dedication to our country!

Residents enjoyed all the Halloween cuteness when Brownie Troop 62810 and Pack 7 paid us a visit to trick or treat! 🍬Our folks light up when they see children, likely reminding them of fond memories as parents and grandparents themselves❤️

👻Happy Halloween!👻 Our residents enjoyed the festivities this week with spooky snacks like “mummy” pigs in a blanket, “dirt and mud” pudding, and witch’s punch🎃 More to come from our community trick or treaters and team pumpkin decorating contest! 🍂Our days are getting shorter and chillier, but at least that means all our favorite pumpkin and apple treats are back! Our team and families participated in a bake-off last week, where we were spoiled with an array of autumnal goodness😋 Congrats to our winners in a 3-way tie— Jane, Kayla and resident Charlotte’s family!

🥇🎉We’ve done it again! Ocean Meadow takes home the win for Best Assisted Living Facility!🎉🥇This is such an honor, and we thank everyone who showed their love and cast votes. We are proud of the difference we make in our residents’ lives, and recognition like this fuels us to be even better. Thank you to all friends and family of Ocean Meadow—past, present and future!

⭐️Last, but certainly not least in our Activitiy Team highlights is the wonderfully kind Dayna Splendorio! Dayna is a gentle, patient soul that our residents easily gravitate to. She has a knack for getting folks involved that typically would shy away from a social gathering, making everyone feel safe and welcome. Dayna lives in Durham with her boyfriend and cat, Lana—spending her free time cooking, and recently becoming a pickleball fanatic. Dayna graduated from Emmanuel College, and is now pursuing her Masters in Social Work from Quinnipiac University. In addition to Ocean Meadow, Dayna is interning as a clinician at Turnbridge—a 60-day inpatient program for kids aged 14-17 struggling with things like substance abuse and other mental health issues. Dayna is a ray of sunshine everywhere she goes, and an asset to our community!

It has been such a joy to highlight our Activities Team this week, and a great reminder of the many people we have at Ocean Meadow for the right reasons. We will always work to keep your loved ones surrounded with compassionate, dedicated staff!❤️

⭐️Our next activity team extraordinaire is Jeannine Allen! The energy and positivity Jeannine brings to Ocean Meadow is infectious, quickly building friendships at her every turn. Jeannine grew up in New Haven with her family of 6, and now has 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren of her own. In her free time she enjoys road trips, dabbling in photography, and spending time outdoors. Jeannine is another beauty guru on the activities team—in addition to being a fashionista, she runs a social media account dedicated to teaching mature women makeup tips. In fact, Jeannine managed a beauty salon in an Assisted Living facility for 5 years, and this is where her love for senior care blossomed! Yet another team member we’re so lucky to have—thank you, Jeannine!

⭐️Next up, meet Kayla Pellegrini, Activities Assistiant 👋🏼 Kayla was born and raised right here in Clinton, now living in town with her boyfriend and 2 dogs, Milo and Rocky. Kayla impressively graduated college double majoring in Early Childhood Education and Special Education and double minoring in Music and Alzheimer Dementia Studies. She’s now back in cosmetology school, which the Ocean Meadow ladies have certainly benefitted from on our spa days! Outside of work you can find Kayla fishing at Devil’s Hopyard, Chatfield Hollow and more. She recently took a charter boat out of Niantic and her group caught 176 fish!🐟Porgies, sea bass and sea robin. Kayla has been working with seniors for 7 years in all sorts of roles from dining to business office. We’re so glad she made her way to us—brightening our residents’ days with many hugs, lots of singing, and the touch of TLC they need.

⭐️Over the next few days we’ll be highlighting the masterminds behind all the wonderful activities you see on this page. Meet Deb Williams, Activities Director👋🏼 We have been lucky enough to have Deb on our team for nearly 15 years!
Deb grew up in Madison, CT along with two sisters, Cindy and Diane. In her early career she worked as a travel agent, before taking a job at an airline named Business Express, Delta's Northeast commuter. Deb married her husband Chris in 1996, and they went on to build a family with 3 beloved kids, Justin (26) Jake (24) and Sarah (20). Deb decided to become a CNA in 2007, and was an amazing aide at Ocean Meadow for years before moving into the activities department. Outside of work, Deb loves gardening, reading and hanging out with her family.
Debbie has a heart of gold, and if you follow this page, you probably agree! If Deb has ever brightened your loved one’s day, give her a shout out in the comments❤️ Thank you for all you do!

We pulled off our own ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ this week—learning about the iconic Katherine Hepburn and watching some of her work. Our ladies even got their own string of ‘pearls’ to show off for the day! ☕️
Interesting tidbit: Hepburn survived a harsh upbringing during WW2 in the Netherlands, at one time eating tulip bulbs and flour to survive. This came full circle in 1990 when the Netherlands named a hybrid white tulip in her honor, to recognize her incredible career and significant work with UNICEF. 🌷
