Construction update. 🚜👷🦺
Due to construction on 1800 North, access to our office can be difficult. To avoid some of the confusion, try using 2300 North and turning south on 900 West. That will bring you to the side entrance of the parking lot with less interference. Stay safe out there! 😃

Does it matter when you exercise? Research says that it does. A study at the University of Chicago found that those that exercise after work had better results in terms of strength and muscle growth compared to exercising in the morning. Another study from the Journal fo Physiology found that if you exercise before breakfast you lost more weight than those who exercised after work. So depending on your personal goals in working out, time of day can assist in achieving your goals.

23. That is the percentage of female athletes who've had at least one concussion during their careers, versus 17 percent of men. Concussions in sports are more common than most people realize. Often they go unnoticed and untreated. If you have any questions about signs and symptoms of concussions or returning to play concerns, please stop by and talk with us. We would love to help you become more aware of this growing concern, especially in youth sports.

Stretching is a great way to reduce tension in your muscles. Just 5 minutes a day can keep you more relaxed and reduce the risk of muscle injury. Stretching is especially effective after exercise or after any activity that works your muscles.

Most running injuries occur at the sites of impact, the heel with heel strike and the toes with push-off. Making sure you have proper running equipment (shoes) can reduce the wear and tear on your feet. Make sure you are getting quality shoes to run in and keep track of the miles you run. Many running experts recommend changing shoes every 300-500 miles. This will vary depending on many factors so pay attention to what your body is telling you. Your body will let you know when a new pair is necessary. Happy running!

Running is great exercise. Running on a regular basis can improve cardiovascular health, assist in weight loss, and strengthen bones. There is a down side to running. Without a proper warm-up, quality equipment (shoes) or proper recovery time, injuries can happen. Walking creates a force of 1.5 times our body weight on each foot with each step. Running creates a force 3-4 times our body weight on each foot with each step. Typical running injuries are a result of volume training (repetitive motion). A person who is 180 pounds who takes 60 steps a minute will put 16.2 tons of force on each foot in that minute!! A 30 minute run will produce 486 tons of force on each foot!!! That is a lot of force for our bodies to handle. With a good warm-up, proper hydration and quality rest, our bodies can handle that force relatively easily. Remember these tips when running and your body will thank you afterwards. Happy running!!
