I felt lost, vulnerable, and utterly helpless…
The 3 words I never imagined I’d have to hear my mother say, “I have cancer”.
All my life I had this incredible passion for being creative, which I attribute to her. Born and raised in Europe, I was immersed in a culture where new styles and modern fashion was constantly changing. I remember being fascinated when my mom would come home with a new look, whether it was an outfit, make-up, or my particular favorite, a new hairstyle. Practicing fun, crazy hairstyles on her soon became a habit.
This prompted me to pursue a career as a hairstylist. I quickly realized that my interest transformed into a deep love for the craft. I found that when I was styling hair, not only was my creativity able to flourish, but it was accompanied by this passive, genuine joy. A joy that I hadn’t experienced from doing anything else.
I finally felt like the course of my life was starting to take shape. When I was 27 years old, I moved to the U.S. to become a licensed hairdresser in New York & Connecticut. A journey that pushed me far outside of my comfort zone, but the anxieties of an unfamiliar land quickly vanished after receiving the worst news I’ve ever heard.
“I have cancer”, my mother told me.
Life immediately turned upside down. The worst part- there was nothing I could do to help the single person in the world I hold most dear. I kept asking myself, “what can I do?”.
As I was styling my mom’s hair, just days before beginning her treatment, our eyes met in the mirror. Acknowledging that this might be the last time we share a moment like this together.
I was compelled to start looking for the best option to cover the hair loss that stemmed from her cancer treatment. I wanted something that looks completely natural and able to be cut or styled.
While researching, I stumbled upon a unique hair-health technique called, “Hair Restoration”. The technique integrated real human hair and achieves the most natural look out of all the hair replacement systems available- perfect for my mother.
Fueled by determination, I soon acquired my own Hair Restoration certification so that I could provide the solution for her hair-loss, personally. After finishing her long-awaited, Hair Restoration procedure, I was absolutely astonished by her reaction.
Although her hair did look beautiful and completely natural, seeing the positive impact it had on my mom’s confidence and mood during such a tough time, is what was truly inspiring and empowering. I discovered that it’s NOT just about how your hair makes you LOOK, but more importantly, how your hair makes you FEEL.
Since then, I have dedicated my life to helping those who suffer from any kind of hair loss or thinning, because nothing makes me happier than continuing to help others feel like themselves again- just like I was able to do for my mother.
Jadak Hair Restoration, centered around love, confidence, and empathy, is the product of this life experience. And now, the source of my joy & purpose.
