💛 Now Accepting New Clients (Ages 6–18) 💛
Evening Appointments Available

If your child has been struggling—emotionally, behaviorally, or socially—you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Meet Sharisheka LaMay, LMHC Intern at Courageous Minds Counseling ✨

She works with children and teens (ages 6–18) to help them:
✔️ Express emotions in healthy ways
✔️ Build confidence and self-esteem
✔️ Improve behavior and coping skills
✔️ Navigate anxiety, stress, and life changes
✔️ Strengthen communication at home and school

Let’s be honest—kids don’t always have the words…
Sometimes it comes out as attitude, shutdowns, or acting out.

That’s where Sharisheka comes in 💛
She creates a safe, supportive space where young clients can open up, feel understood, and actually want to engage.

🕔 Evening Availability (because we know life is busy):
Mondays & Thursdays

Limited openings available: To schedule email admin@cmciowa.com with a subject line: SHARISHEKA LAMAY

✨ Now Accepting New Clients – Immediate Openings ✨

Looking for a therapist who feels safe, real, and genuinely gets it? Meet Madyson Guzman, MSW Intern at Courageous Minds Counseling 💛

Madyson is passionate about helping you feel seen, supported, and empowered—not judged, rushed, or “fixed.”

Her approach is:
✔️ Trauma-informed
✔️ Person-centered
✔️ Rooted in emotional safety + collaboration

She helps clients:
• Explore patterns in thoughts, emotions, and relationships
• Understand how past experiences show up in the present
• Build coping skills that actually work in real life
• Move from feeling stuck → to feeling more in control

And let’s be real… sometimes you don’t need someone to “tell you what to do.”
You need someone to sit with you, get curious with you, and help you figure it out without pressure. That’s her lane.

Bonus: If faith or spirituality matters to you, she can integrate that into your healing in a way that feels natural and supportive.

Outside the therapy room? She’s a cozy homebody—think gaming, music, and recharging in peaceful spaces (so yes… she understands burnout on a real level 😌).

Your pet might be one of your safest attachments. 🐶🐱

Animals provide a consistent presence, nonjudgmental connection, and powerful co-regulation. For many people healing relational trauma, pets become a bridge back to trust and safety.

Sometimes unconditional love has paws.

Check out some of CMC therapist's pets and drop a picture of your pet in the comment.

ACEs can impact brain development and stress responses, sometimes leading to sleep problems, emotional dysregulation, or cognitive difficulties. These are not character flaws—they are nervous system responses to stress.

Kindness isn’t just “nice.” It’s regulating.
When we engage in prosocial behavior—helping, giving, showing compassion—our nervous system shifts out of threat mode and into connection. Safe connection lowers stress hormones and increases feelings of stability.

Healing doesn’t only happen in therapy. Sometimes it starts with one intentional act of kindness. 💛

ACEs don’t just stay in childhood. They can impact emotional regulation, learning, and long-term well-being. When we understand how early experiences affect development, we can respond with compassion instead of judgment.

Galentine’s Day isn’t just about brunch and matching outfits 💕 It’s also a reminder that friendship wounds are real. Many of us learned how to connect from spaces shaped by inconsistency, competition, or survival. Healing relational trauma means building friendships rooted in safety, reciprocity, and emotional security. You deserve sisterhood that feels calm, not confusing. 💜
