Daybreak is 3 years old this week!! It feels like it's been forever ago and also just yesterday all at once!! I am so thankful and proud of our team, thankful to our supporters, and most appreciative to our clients choosing to put their care and trust in us. We have never been and don't strive to be perfect, and we embrace the messy times and challenges that come with growth and progress along the journey! Happy 3 years to all of the Daybreak community!! ✨ Welcome to the Daybreak team, Alicia Wright, LISW! ✨

We’re thrilled to welcome Alicia Wright to Daybreak Counseling as a Licensed Independent Social Worker, now accepting clients ages 13 and up. With over 10 years of experience, Alicia brings a thoughtful, client-centered approach grounded in evidence-based care, collaboration, and honoring each person’s unique story.

Alicia supports individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, postpartum mental health challenges, substance use, grief, family conflict, and major life transitions. She is trained in CBT, DBT, trauma-focused care, solution-focused and narrative therapies, and offers both in-person and telehealth services.

Born and raised in Des Moines, Alicia is passionate about serving the community she calls home. We’re grateful to have her warmth, experience, and steady presence at Daybreak—please join us in giving her a warm welcome!

Jeremy offers a grounded, collaborative approach with experience supporting veterans, parents, teachers, and individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, OCD, depression, and substance use. Alex provides inclusive, trauma-informed care and works closely with individuals exploring identity, trauma survivors, veterans, and those navigating life transitions, and complex experiences.

✨ Welcome to the team, Penelope Doremus! ✨

We’re excited to welcome Penelope to Daybreak as an Intern Therapist, now accepting clients ages 5 and up. Penelope brings a compassionate, whole-person approach to therapy, integrating evidence-based counseling with an understanding of how mind and body work together. Her background in education and interest in integrative care shape her work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, and feeling “stuck” or overwhelmed.

As an intern therapist, sessions with Penelope are offered at a flat-rate of $20 per session, with no insurance billing required, making therapy a more accessible option for individuals and families seeking supportive care.

It’s celebration season here at Daybreak — and we have another milestone to share! 🎉

Our incredible interns, Jeremy and Alex, have officially passed their licensure exams and are now T-LMHCs! Watching them grow, learn, and pour their hearts into every client along the way has been such a privilege. We are honored to continue walking beside them as their supervisors and cheering them on as they begin this next chapter in their professional journey.

Even better? Both Jeremy and Alex will be accepting new clients starting in January! We couldn’t be more excited for the impact they’ll continue making in our community.
