It’s LIVE! You can find our limited edition “All Brains are Beautiful” tee for sale at the link in my bio. This adorable artwork features some of the “Brain gang” from our mural created by the one and only .

When I say “so much went into this”, I really can’t begin to describe the amount. Between coffee dates with Nic, brain dumping with , conversations about color with , trying to learn how to post products online, we’ve poured our hearts into this concept. And for what? Well, for the most important reason. All of the profit from this tee (available in infant to adult) will go toward scholarships for our summer camp for neurodivergent children. We are THRILLED to jumpstart this to fill a critical gap in our community. Thank you for joining this wild ride!

Disclaimer- this is my first time, there are likely hiccups on the site, and I’ll be personally fulfilling orders in collab with the Side Garage, so I appreciate your support and patience! Let’s make this happen for our campers!

We are so excited to introduce Angela as the newest provider in the 143 Speech Therapy team. She is joining us from a pediatric clinic in Minnesota after her family was relocated to Des Moines. The timing could not have been sweeter! Angela brings a range of skills and interests to our space, especially in working with early language learners, gestalt language processing, and AAC!

Today was a good day. It was one of those days that reminded me of why I’m on this path. Someone wise once said “when you’re not battling the organization you’re in, you have energy and time to battle for the things that really matter” (it was , she said that). Today was an opportunity to do that. I was able to get out of my comfort zone (yet again) to speak with senators and about roadblocks we experience with Medicaid and how we can fight for consistent, accessible, and equitable services for kids regardless of their health insurance benefits. I was so impressed with both of these women and their warmth and interest in the cause.

Thankful for who helped coordinate efforts and embrace something new together (yet again).

We will be at the museum on Saturday for an open play hour! Join me, , and for play time, discussion, and tips for play, language, and movement! It is free admission for the hour before the museum opens and they will be taking donations for moving and construction costs for their new space opening later this year! I hope my freebie finds you and your trick or treaters in time. I added some images and poem ideas for you to use if the opportunity presents. Last year, I was caught off guard by the number of people withholding candy until my son said a joke. I know it’s not will ill intent, and I love tradition. BUT, if I can make one impact this season, I want it to be this. We (therapists, families, children, teachers) work so hard to help neurodivergent children join the places and activities that often aren’t created with them in mind. INSTEAD, what if we encourage easy, yet impactful, ways to adjust the places and activities to help these children feel safer and more welcoming?

If you’re handing out candy, please consider posting this, or giving candy, smiles, and treats with NO expectation of verbal or social exchange.

If you’re trick or treating and experience people handing out candy who are doing amazing with this idea, I included a little thank you. If you meet someone who could use a little bit of carefully worded feedback, I included that too. One parent even added that they will write their son’s joke on the note and he can give it to them. ❤️🎃
