Rideability Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc.

Rideability Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc. We offer Equine Assisted Services & Learning to children & young adults with diverse abilities & veterans. international.

We work with neurodiverse and physically diverse students. RideAbility’s vision began when watching the power of a horse with a child unable to walk with cerebral palsy. He was given an opportunity to move freely and independently while on the back of a horse– an approach called Therapeutic Riding which is supported by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, P.A.T.H. Watching that child’s physical and emotional connection with the horse, and the way the child’s treatment accelerated, we knew we had found our calling. Combining our passion for riding and teaching therapeutic riding to special needs individuals along with our life-long love of horses, RideAbility opened in Clover SC in 2012 . We bring the benefits of therapeutic riding to individuals with a wide range of disabilities to South Carolina. At RideAbility, we offer a wide variety of Equine Assisted Services designed to empower children and adults with diverse disabilities, as well as veterans, on their journey toward greater independence and fulfillment. Our mission is to promote physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being through transformative power of equine assisted services and learning. We provide therapeutic riding and equine assisted services and learning for children and young adults with autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, PTSD, anxiety, and various other diverse needs. Wendy Schonfeld the Director of RideAbility is a PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Advanced Special Olympics Equestrian Coach and a Doctor of Chiropractic. These combined skills allow her to offer a unique perspective as well as absolute competency directing and teaching Therapeutic Horseback Riding at RideAbility.

How cool is this? Truly one of those moments where creativity and meaning come together in the best way.

Keegan, one of our amazing RideAbility moms, created a beautiful pottery vases, carefully crafted with horsehair from our own horses—this one made with Cody’s hair.

It’s not just a piece of art. It’s a story. A connection. A way to carry a piece of these incredible horses with you.

These one-of-a-kind vases will be part of our horse show auction, and they are something really special.

At RideAbility, therapeutic adaptive riding is so much more than just time in the saddle—it’s a pathway to growth, confidence, and independence.

Every lesson is intentionally designed to meet each student where they are and help them move forward. Through working with our incredible horses, students develop strength, balance, coordination, and core stability. But the impact goes far beyond the physical.

We see students improve focus, follow multi-step directions, build communication skills, and grow in confidence. They learn responsibility through horse care, patience through partnership, and emotional regulation through connection. For many, this is the place where they feel successful, capable, and understood AND SAFE.

Our horses are not just part of the program—they are partners in progress. They provide immediate feedback, unconditional acceptance, and opportunities for our students to achieve goals they may not have thought possible.

Week after week, we watch breakthroughs happen—big and small. A first independent steer, a confident voice giving direction, a moment of calm and connection. These are the wins that matter.

Practice makes progress, and at RideAbility, progress is what we celebrate every single day with our INCREDIBLE TEAMS.

We are grateful to serve such an incredible community and to witness the power of what happens when horses and humans come together with purpose.❤️❤️❤️

Being part of a team is something truly special. Our Special Olympics equestrian team is built on horsemanship, sportsmanship, teamwork, education, and fun. Today, our Wednesday Area 11 team truly shined—working hard, supporting one another, and building incredible partnerships with their coaches and horses.

What stood out most was the teamwork. In equestrian, success depends on communication, trust, and connection—not just between rider and horse, but across the entire team. These athletes continue to grow in skill, confidence, and heart every single week.

So proud of each and every one of them.

To love a horse is to understand respect, trust, loyalty, kindness, and patience.
They teach us lessons no classroom ever could.

And through our students, we are reminded what it truly means to be kind, forgiving, and loving.
They teach us just as much—if not more—every single day.

What a blessing it is to share in these moments.

The love of our animals needs no words.

Language and how we describe each other is so important. Understanding we ALL think and process differently. We are ALL unique in our own special way. I love that we serve children and young adults with a wide range of abilities and diagnoses.”
• “We support children with diverse needs, including autism, physical challenges, and developmental differences.”
• “We work with neurodiverse and physically diverse learners.” The world is all about differences. What a boring place it would be if we were all the same.
