Elizabeth A. Taylor-Medsker
9-30-1999 to 2-19-2026
Elizabeth came into this world as a tiny premie baby but, even then, was full of life with a fighting spirit. Her mother likes to tell the story of how they had to dress her in cabbage patch doll clothes to bring her home from the hospital. Elizabeth lived in both Indianapolis and Martinsville growing up, and was a graduate of Ben Davis High School. She was awarded a full scholarship to Indiana State University but chose to stay close to her loved ones and attended Ivy Tech in Indianapolis, studying her dream job of teaching. Although she was unable to obtain a full degree due to declining health she had the privilege and joy of substitute teaching within the Ben Davis school system before she was unable to work at all. She loved so many things - her family, first and foremost! Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents Ann & Daniel Taylor, paternal grandmother Pamela Loy, her father, David Medsker, and her brother, Austin Medsker. Those whose hearts now have a Lizzie sized hole in them are her mother, Michaela Taylor, sister Hannah Taylor (and Hannah's daughter, Raine), sister Morgyn Barsoda (Trey), grandparents, Mark & Lynne Medsker, and a large group of aunts, uncles & cousins.
Elizabeth was known for her love of music, Disney, fashion, makeup and all things "girly"! Her bright spirit was always apparent in her own unique style. She was equally happy horseback riding, camping, spending time in nature or tearing around her grandparents property on a four-wheeler. Celebrating anything (especially her birthday) brought her so much joy! The biggest Justin Beiber fan, she was thrilled to see him in concert when he was in Indianapolis. She was playful, fun and overflowing with sassiness.
Liz was in the school choir at Smith Elementary in Martinsville and spent several years on the cheer squad at Legends Cheer Academy II. She was one of God's children and had great faith in him, singing with the worship team at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Martinsville when attending there as a teen. Her favorite place was Florida and she loved walking on the beach there, taking multiple trips over the years. She was always ready to travel anywhere and everywhere, explore and enjoy new places and people any time the opportunity arose. Even just a day trip to go fishing with her sister, Morgyn, brought her joy! A highlight of her short life was a dream trip to Florida to spend several days at Disney World as well as a day at Discovery Cove where she got to swim with the dolphins and enjoy other adventures.
When Elizabeth was 17 she was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease and was a warrior in her battle against it, even while watching her father and brother lose their battles along the way. Her last two years were spend at Aperion Summerfield Health Care in Cloverdale, Indiana - a facility dedicated to Huntington's patients. Their above & beyond love, care, patience and wide array of activities kept her life full until the end. We will be forever grateful to the staff there. If you are inclined, donations to the Huntington's Disease Society of America would be appreciated. They can be made online at https://give.hdsa.org
Elizabeth's favorite quote was from the Disney movie, Lilo & Stitch - "Ohana means Family. Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten." She will certainly never be forgotten.
She will be celebrated on Thursday, February 26th at Indiana Memorial Funeral Care (3562 W. 10th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana) with visitation from 1-2:00 p.m. and a service at 2:00. Her favorite colors were turquoise blue and purple and we would love for visitors to celebrate her life by wearing those colors if possible.
