January is Thyroid awareness month.

The thyroid is a small, butterfly shaped gland in the neck that is responsible for metabolism. As part of the endocrine system, the thyroid has responsibilities such as body temperature regulation, maintaining calcium levels, brain development, fat production, and nervous system regulation.

Stay tuned throughout the month as we discuss the different types of thyroid disease.
