The Head (Mind) Types experience stress first in the mind, seeking security and certainty.
(As opposed to the Instinctual/Body Types who experience stress first in the gut with a need to respond, or the Emotional/Heart Types who experience stress first in their self-concept and identity.)
But each of the Mind Types has a different strategy for creating that sense of safety:
Type 5: withdraw inward to build a secure inner world of knowledge and understanding
Type 6: seek stability and security by looking to systems, structures, or trusted guidance outside themselves
Type 7: seek safety by focusing on possibilities, reframing discomfort, and planning the next positive experience
Can you see any of these patterns in yourself?
Does it help you understand others in your life?
Let me know! đ
And remember, the Enneagram is about noticing patterns and the drives behind them so that we can see ourselves and others with more compassion and grace.
You contain all 9 types within you, but most people have one type that resonates most strongly as their core motivation and coping strategy.
Iâm here to guide you through the Enneagram and more. Reach out if you have questions.
