The expandABILITIES family have all had the privilege of being students of this great man. He will be greatly missed, but so many carry on his legacy thanks to his passion for ABA and his compassion for people. Rest easy, friend.

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Jose Martinez-Diaz. Jose founded Florida Tech’s School of Behavior Analysis, helping to usher in new generations of behavior analysts and practitioners around the globe; a legacy not soon forgotten. Jose’s generosity, creativity, and compassion were often unmatched. He had an uproarious laugh and contagious smile which could light a room. Jose would often regale his colleagues and students with funny anecdotes, touching stories or sage advice, depending on the moment. Our words may not capture all we feel and need to say, but for now, we stand with the ABA community in mourning the loss of a great man. Jose’s impact will continue to ripple through the generations of behaviorists that succeed him.
