James Sterling Beale, 56, of Mathews, Virginia peacefully entered his eternal home early in the morning on December 19, 2025 at Mary Immaculate hospital in Newport News. James was born to the late Willard Beale, Jr. and Lois Beale.

James grew up in Mathews and obtained his education through Mathews County Public Schools. He was devoted to his family and always put others before himself, showing kindness, care and support to weveryone around him. Through hard work and determination, he provided for his family and led by example, showing the value of responsibility, love and selflessness.

He leaves to cherish four sons; Clyde Antonio Peterson, Jr., Christopher James Ferguson-Beale, Joshua Anthony Beale and James Franklin Beale: three daughters; Aliza Darlynn Beale, Breonna Tori Beale and Lois Faith Beale. He also leaves three brothers; Lorenzo Veney, Kermit Beale and Allan Beale and one sister; Juanita Beale-Pryor and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025 1:00 pm at New Hope Fellowship, Deltaville, Virginia. The viewing will held at the church from 11:00 until the start of the service. Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, Hudgins will be in charge of the service.

Bubee Anderson Willis, 83, of Mathews, Virginia, passed away at home on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Bubee was the husband of Martha Ann Willis. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, Hudgins Virginia.

Rufus “Raymond” Robinson, a United States Air Force Veteran of Blakes, Virginia, husband of Helen Lewis Robinson died on October 18, 2025. He was born on November 13, 1933. Raymond worked at Newport News Shipbuilding and helped to build the original Coleman Bridge.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen Lewis Robinson and two sons: Vincent Robinson and Pastor Eric Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Cobbs Creek on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 2:30 pm with a viewing from 1:30-2:30 at the church. Services have been entrusted to Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, Hudgins, Virginia.

James Garfield Smith went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Gloucester, Virginia. He was born on June 17, 1963 to the late James Tyler and Christine Smith at Cobbs Creek.
He is survived by his sisters; Carolyn Jones, Eleanor Dixon and Nancy Beverly.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 12:00 pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Cobbs Creek, Virginia. The viewing will held at the church from 11:00 -12:00 p.m. Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, Hudgins will be in charge of the service. Interment will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 at Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton at 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to Ebenezer Baptist Church, Cobbs Creek.

Ellen Beverly Johnson, 83, of Locust Hill passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. She is survived by her son, Michael A. Johnson, Sr. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church, 3971 General Puller Hwy., Saluda at 11:00 a.m. following a viewing at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
