Did you know that Gary & Susan Rightmyer funded a scholarship for paramedic students in 2014 and continue to maintain it through their donations? We truly appreciate their support of our program and our students!

The Gary & Susan Rightmyer Scholarship goes to an incoming, returning, or transfer student in the Paramedic Program (either the one-year certificate program or the two-year associates degree program) with a 3.0 GPA or higher. In addition, preference will be given to students actively serving in their community's Fire Department or Rescue Squad (with verification by the Chief of the Fire Department, Captain of the Rescue Squad, or appropriate representative). ❄️ Slippery Road Conditions in Montgomery County ❄️

The latest snowfall is creating slick roadways and we are seeing an increase in motor vehicle accidents across the county.

If you must travel:
• Leave early
• Reduce your speed
• Increase your following distance
• Allow extra time to stop
• Use headlights when visibility is reduced

Bridges, overpasses, and untreated secondary roads may be especially slippery.

Please take your time and drive responsibly.

If you experience an emergency, call 911. For non emergency assistance, contact our Dispatch Center at 518-853-5500.

As many of you may know, 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of VVES! To celebrate this milestone, we are seeking to connect with ALL alumni who have been associated with VVES. Unfortunately, much of our history was lost in the 2011 flood, so we need your help to restore it. Please check the Google Doc below to provide us with information you may have. Thank you!

🔥🚨 NYS Burn Ban Starts March 16 🚨🔥

The annual New York State Burn Ban runs March 16 through May 14. We’re sharing this early so everyone has time to plan ahead.

Even if there is still snow on the ground, the dead grass and brush underneath can dry out and ignite quickly. Spring winds can turn a small fire into a big problem fast.

Check the graphic for what is allowed and what is not. When in doubt, do not burn. For full details, visit:
https://dec.ny.gov/environmental-protection/air-quality/open-burning

Help us prevent brush fires and keep Montgomery County safe. 🌲👮‍♂️

We’re proud to announce that Greene County Paramedics is entering into a clinical partnership with Columbia Greene Community College to serve as an additional voluntary specialty clinical option for their RN Program!

Through this collaboration, nursing students will complete scheduled ride-along shifts with our paramedics, gaining firsthand experience in prehospital healthcare and responding to calls in the field. Students will get to see how emergency medical services assess, treat, and stabilize patients in in austere environments — and how EMS plays a critical role within the broader healthcare spectrum. It will also show them how the continuation of care and collection of clinical data starts at the scene and is handed off to definitive care.

We’re excited to support the next generation of nurses and strengthen the connection between prehospital and in-hospital providers! 🚑
