We are excited to celebrate Bleckley Memorial Hospital’s participation in the Kids Alliance for Better Care (KidsABC) with a ribbon cutting at our emergency department on Saturday, October 25 at 1:30 p.m. Through KidsABC support, we have been able to purchase child-friendly medical equipment for our ED, take part in educational programs, and enhance care for kids right here in Bleckley County. We are honored to be recognized by KidsABC, a collaboration between Mercer University School of Medicine and its Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center, with support from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. We invite the community to join all of us in this celebration. Kids will enjoy our free Fall Festival event 2-4 PM!

Through Bleckley Memorial’s participation in the Kids Alliance for Better Care (KidsABC), our Emergency Department staff completed a pediatric respiratory distress simulation training. KidsABC — a collaboration between Mercer University School of Medicine and its Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center, with support from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta — provided staff with this opportunity to enhance pediatric care through scenario-based simulations based on real cases. Using the specialized, child-friendly equipment supplied by KidsABC, staff practiced evaluating patients, assessing symptoms, and intervening with appropriate treatments for conditions such as asthma. These exercises strengthen pediatric emergency care. Simulation training supports our mission of delivering high-quality care so children in our community can receive the treatment they need close to home. Healthy hometowns start with healthy kids!
