In the spring of 2015 I had a meltdown in a yoga class.
Out of the blue I was taken over by terror and anxiety.
I sat down on my mat to take a breath. It was then that I began to feel terrible pain in my neck, and the entire left side of my face and arm went numb.
I started to freak out. I left the class, called my husband and scheduled an emergency doctor’s appointment.
Within 24 hours I had undergone multiple tests. Waiting for the results to come back was one of the scariest times of my life.
When the results did come back, I was at a loss.
There was no diagnosis for my physical symptoms. Ultimately, the doctors diagnosed the episode as an anxiety attack.
But this experience seemed to make no sense.
I had an amazing and supportive husband, a thriving career, a healthy body and a loving family. In fact, I was living a life far beyond my wildest dreams.
I had spent a decade growing my spiritual practice, healing old wounds and deepening my faith. And I was finally free. Or so I thought.
I took this experience very seriously and I looked closely at my patterns.
💡 I realized I was in denial of my anxiety.
I’d spent decades pushing past my stress and anxious emotions.
When I felt anxious I’d meditate quickly to get out of the feeling, but I’d never actually get to the root of it.
When stress hit I’d pile on more to-dos so that I could gain some sense of control.
All that control ultimately took me down.
I knew that it was time for me to heal my relationship to anxiety once and for all. 🌼
So I enrolled in a Kundalini teacher workshop on stress and vitality. I learned life-changing practices for healing stress in minutes
I became a student and teacher of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and learned how to self-soothe and heal the emotional disturbance behind my anxiety.
I made peace and well-being my highest priority.
As a result of mastering these practices, I’ve totally transformed my nervous system, recovered from gut inflammation, healed my relationships and manifested faster than ever.
Releasing my anxiety set me free. 🕊
