I rarely keep my mouth shut when I have a strong opinion. (This has been proven by my recent diagnosis of vocal cord nodules from chronic overuse… 😆🥴Literally my report card said “talks too much since kindergarten”- And I still don’t shut up.) 🗣️
I don't necessarily need or want to change someone else's mind, I just like to be heard and considered.... just like my patients that end up in my office... frustrated and hanging by some shred of hope that they will also be heard, and validated. I tell them every time we review their bloodwork... I will give you the facts, my opinion, my recommendations, and then we formulate a plan specifically for you. We work together to create something that is realistic, sustainable, and works with you, your budget, and your time. It is different every single time. 👩⚕️
We are hearing so many things on social media, from the “news”, your friends, the random people in your neighborhood, or in line at the store... where-ever.... and we tend to believe what we are told. Whether it's about hormone replacement, a peptide, a supplement, a weight loss solution, or magical cream.. whatever it is, you really must consider your source, and formulate your own opinion. 🧠
Again, I don't try to change someone's mind, but I do encourage people to do their own research, and consider their personal health history before jumping into something that is not either regulated or monitored. There are many things available right now that are "research grade" or "not for human or animal consumption" that people are injecting in their body- I am not saying that many of these things don't work, but you don't always know where they are from, or exactly what it is. As a provider, I won't put my license at risk to "prescribe" something that can be bought online without a provider. I know many of these things have benefits, I do prescribe things appropriately, and I definitely am not waiting for some sort of insurance coverage to guide me and my recommendations, but I will stand by the fact that I know that there are specific labs to be checked, and close monitoring that should be required, or there are risks. 😬(and some things are as fake as this picture… because I actually have green eyes and don’t wear earrings 🙄💚😂)
I worked too hard for my education to keep my opinion to myself, and to see the many people who are jeopardizing their health for a quick fix. Very often, there are other underlying conditions that really need to be addressed before starting some specific regimens. Feel free to follow up with me at Emerald Key Wellness if you would like to discuss healthy, appropriate, and safe choices for you that fit your lifestyle.
