Years of tailbone pain… finally relieved.
This patient suffered from severe coccydynia for years and could barely sit comfortably. We tried everything first — physical therapy, medications, injections, and even radiofrequency ablation — but nothing provided lasting relief.
A ganglion impar block briefly worked, which told us we were targeting the right pain pathway. So I tried something different: a peripheral nerve stimulator trial using a novel lateral approach designed to avoid the higher infection risk of the few if any cases described in the literature.
The result? Significant pain improvement and the ability to sit and stand comfortably again.
We are now planning the permanent implant.
This technique has not yet been described in the literature, and we are planning to present it at a medical conference in the near future — stay tuned.
