In this episode, Mike Baker sits down with Dr. Duane Craddock of Coeur d’Alene Pediatrics to discuss the new partnership between Heritage Health and Coeur d’Alene Pediatrics—and what it means for families across Coeur d’Alene and North Idaho.
They cover the history of Coeur d’Alene Pediatrics, what current patients can expect, and how this collaboration aims to expand access to high-quality, relationship-based pediatric care. 🌸 Spring is around the corner!
And for many kids, that means seasonal allergies may start earlier than expected.
If your child tends to sniffle and sneeze their way into spring, now’s a great time to get ahead of symptoms. A few simple steps—like refreshing air filters, keeping windows closed on high‑pollen days, and having their favorite comfort items ready—can make a big difference.
Let’s help our little ones enjoy the sunshine without the itchy eyes and runny noses! šŸ’›šŸŒ¼

🄪 Healthy Lunch Packing Made Simple

Packing school lunches doesn’t have to feel like a daily puzzle. A simple formula can take the stress out of decision‑making and still keep things balanced and fun.

Try choosing one item from each category (or two from fruits/veggies):
• Protein
• Fruit & Veggie
• Carb
• Something Fun

Then repeat those combos throughout the week.
Kids don’t need a brand‑new lunch every day — most are perfectly happy with a few rotating favorites. Keeping 2–3 go‑to lunch ideas on repeat saves time, reduces stress, and still gives them plenty of variety.

Simple, balanced, and totally doable. šŸ’›

Research shows that regular family dinners are linked to better grades, healthier habits, and lower risk‑taking in kids. A little structure — and a little fun — can go a long way.

If your family dinners feel more like a circus than a calm bonding moment, you’re not alone. Between picky eaters, wiggly kids, and endless distractions, it can feel like something to survive rather than enjoy.

Try adding simple conversation starters to the table and see where the giggles and stories take you. With a tiny shift, dinner might just become your favorite part of the day. šŸ’›https://themanylittlejoys.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Conversation-starters-for-families-with-young-kids-printable-pack.pdf

šŸ’› Helping Your Child Break Pacifier or Thumb‑Sucking Habits

Most kids grow out of sucking habits on their own, but if you’re ready to support the transition, a calm and positive approach works best. A few helpful tips:

• Stay positive. Praise your child when they don’t suck their thumb or pacifier. Star charts and small rewards can make it fun.
• Keep little hands busy. If they suck out of boredom, offer toys, activities, or fidget items to redirect their focus.
• Use gentle reminders. Calm cues during the day work better than pressure or punishment.
• Watch for dental changes. If you notice shifts in teeth or palate shape, check in with your pediatrician or pediatric dentist.
• Explain the plan. Make sure your child understands what you’re doing and why. If a strategy causes stress, pause and try something else.

Most children naturally stop the habit as they grow—especially once school and peers enter the picture. Kindness, patience, and consistency go a long way. šŸ’•

šŸ’— Valentine’s Day Kindness Challenge! šŸ’—
A sweet reminder that love isn’t just something we say—it’s something we do. This week, invite your kids to spread kindness in simple, meaningful ways. Here are age‑friendly ideas to get everyone involved:

🌼 Young Child (3–6):
Make a ā€œkindness heartā€ for someone—draw a heart and tell them one thing you love about them.

šŸ“š School‑Age Child (7–12):
Write a surprise note of appreciation for a teacher, bus driver, or classmate and leave it where they’ll find it.

šŸ’¬ Teen:
Send a genuine text to a friend or family member telling them something you admire or appreciate about them.

Small acts add up. Let’s fill the week with kindness, connection, and a little extra love. šŸ’•
