The Kootenai Health Nursing Excellence Program (NEP) is a voluntary, peer-reviewed program designed to recognize clinical nurses for their professional achievements and contributions to improving patient care. The Kootenai Health NEP is organized around the Magnet® pillars: Exemplary Professional Practice, Transformational Leadership, Structural Empowerment, and New Knowledge and Innovation. The NEP recognizes, promotes, and rewards nurse engagement and contributions to the organization, the community, and the nursing profession through a financial incentive based on those contributions. Points are earned based on a grid, and the monetary award is based on points earned. ⁠
