Dear Project SEARCH Supporters,

Hello my name is Nathan and I'm a Project SEARCH intern. The internship I'm currently working in is a brand new one this year, I'm their first intern, it's Wound Care! Wound Care involves cleaning/sanitizing, putting away supplies, vacuuming the floors and taking out laundry.

I would also like to mention that I've been able to do outside community events with my business mentor Nick and with the staff in Wound Care. The staff event was a team building paint night at Seasons restaurant. The event with Nick was an LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee) meeting in October, I learned about the different weather patterns and the seasons. There's also an NETEC (National Emerging Pathogens Training & Exercise Center) frontline training meeting happening on November 20th that I am attending.

I would also love to say that there's some great news! Our Mod Pizza Fundraiser raised $149.26! Thank you to everyone who participated in our fundraiser on Halloween!

Dear Project SEARCH Supporters,
My name is Nico and I will be writing this weekly update, since I'm the team lead this week!
I am currently in central supply for my internship. I am starting to do deliveries on my own to other areas of the hospital. I enjoy being busy and helping the hospital to be well stocked. I sweep, take cardboard to a compactor, sticker items, and sometimes put items on the shelves.
We got to talk to several CDA Act actors this week and some of us are going to their show, which is Singing in The Rain!
We also spent time doing a budget simulator this week. We learned a lot about paying bills from this.
Try visiting Mod Pizza for our fundraiser TODAY! In-person or online! The fundraiser code is MODGIVES25 for online orders.
Happy Halloween!
Sincerely,
Nico

Dear Project SEARCH Supporters,
Hi my name is Peyton and I am team lead this week. I am currently working in the cafe and Hospitalist office for my first internship. I enjoy helping there. In the morning I start in the cafe and I clean Tables, Counters, Microwave, handles and chairs. Then in Hospital's office I clean the doctor's desk, gym, Kitchen room, Physicians Lounge, Counters, recycling and trash. This helps keep everyone healthy.
We have also been practicing for an interview. This will help to be prepared for a future job interview. This week we had a community resource fair at Venture Academy. We helped set up, greet and tear down. We saw friends and talked to lots of vendors like vocational rehab, SNR , STEP and many more about their resources.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Peyton

Dear Project SEARCH supporters,
My name is Joshua and I am team lead this week. I am currently working in 2 East for my first internship. In the morning I stock the items in the closet if they are almost out of any supplies. In the afternoon I stock the linens and I put them in the closets that are low on linens. Then I begin sanitizing the railings, the door k***s, and the hand sanitizers, this helps keep everyone healthy.

We had a guest tour Project SEARCH to see if they want to join next year. It was fun showing them what we do as interns, I hope they apply.

For this week in healthy relationships we worked on decision making. It's important to make good decisions.
I hope you have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Joshua

Dear Project SEARCH Supporters,
Hello my name is Matthew and I was team lead this week.
We have just started to get into a good rhythm for our internships. For my internship I am in transportation and my start time is 8:30 and my lunch time depends on the driver I'm placed with. I have been with Richard and Leslie. My job is to help the driver with talking to the patients and helping the patients on and off the bus. I want the patients to have a good experience. As a group we went over and saw Ryan on Monday at the Sim Lab and were able to use the VR headset to help a "patient." We have been learning about the different types of communication as part of our Healthy Relationships in the Workplace lessons.
Looking forward to continuing to learn during my internship. Have a great weekend!

Dear Project SEARCH Supporters,
Hello My name is AJ Navales I am a Project SEARCH intern and the team lead this week.

We started the internships this week, I am interning in EVS Laundry. I like it! I have learned how to fold the pillowcases and build up the towels and thicker blanket with Lisa and to KOS (Kootenai Outpatient Surgery). I stacked up the linens in the cabinet. I hung the belts in the hook.

I will be having lunch with my business mentor Kevin next Wednesday October 8. I am looking forward to seeing Kevin (my business mentor) next week.

We are also working on a budget simulation. I am excited to learn about budgeting money.

Project SEARCH interns are off tomorrow due to a teacher workday.

Have a great weekend!

In SEARCH of Employment

Our interns are very busy finishing completing their internship requirements. They are all currently actively looking for employment in our community. Please contact us with any job leads you may have.

During this program our student interns have learned the skills necessary to be dependable employees. They have developed interview and resume writing skills as well as a variety of on-job-skills while working with the hospital staff at Kootenai Health.
