Fevers are often a sign that your child’s body is fighting an infection the way it’s meant to. That’s good news — it means their immune system is doing its job.

Still, there are times when a fever deserves extra attention.

📞 When to Call the Doctor - Reach out right away if your child:

Looks very ill, unusually sleepy, or extremely fussy

Has been in a very hot environment

Has symptoms like stiff neck, severe headache, rash, ear pain, or repeated vomiting/diarrhea

Shows signs of dehydration

Has immune system concerns or is taking steroids

Has had a seizure

Is under 3 months with a fever of 100.4°F or higher

Has a fever over 104°F repeatedly

Fevers can be stressful, but you’re not alone — trust your instincts and reach out if something doesn’t feel right.
