When you enter recovery, you might hear the word “sponsor” a lot, especially as you participate in support groups. But what does a sponsor do? At its most basic form, a sponsor is someone who works as a guide or mentor to someone in recovery. That sponsor is someone who has already worked through their addiction and no longer uses drugs or drinks.
