Sometimes the smallest discoveries turn into the most meaningful moments. ❤️🥹

Recently, a kind member of our community purchased a thrifted trunk and while looking through it found something very special — old photographs & cards that had been left behind for decades. Among them were photos from 1964 of our very own resident, Wayne Lauritsen, and his family. Instead of tossing them aside, this thoughtful community member reached out to help return these memories to where they belonged. When Wayne was given the found photos & cards from his loved ones, he looked through them with a smile and tears in his eyes. These were memories he thought were long gone, yet somehow they found their way back to him.

Moments like this remind us how powerful a caring community can be. It truly takes a village, and we are so lucky to live in a place like Colby where people look out for one another and take the time to return something so meaningful! We're rooted right here in a place that reminds us the good in humanity is still out there, caring for your neighbor is the always the right thing to do and the power of social media truly can be used to positively connect and help others!

Thank you to the wonderful community member who made this moment possible and helped bring these treasured memories back home to this wonderful gentleman to hold near & dear. 💖

We're gearing up for a fun month of luck in March!

Our residents would love to receive a postcard preferably or any mail (card, postcards, letters) from coast to coast! The goal is to receive mail from each state in the US for this activity, we will also be pinpointing every spot we received mail from across Kansas! So don't worry - we would love to hear from any and all so flood our mailbox even if you're right here locally in Colby or Kansas too!

We are looking forward to filling our map up in the next month! 📬✈️📝🌎

🎄❤️🎁 Prairie Senior's 2025 Holiday Party 🎄❤️🎁

The weather outside was a bit frightful, but our party was absolutely delightful! So much love and laughter filled our hallways yesterday and nothing compares to quality time with people who are so near and dear to the heart.

A big thank you is in order to so many who helped make this day so special and complete:
🎁Every single person who contributed to our virtual angel tree gift purchases (those smiles were priceless watching residents open gifts!) We are so fortunate to have such giving people, near and far, to help us spread holiday cheer & give such a thoughtful and personalized gift!
💄 Ronda Faber's Adopt a Resident with Mary Kay for the stocking stuffer goodies
🧢 Colby Ag for the men's hats for stocking stuffing stuffers
💇‍♀️ Deb Giebler, our longstanding hair dresser for coming in early and making sure EVERY resident was styled and was beautified for the big event
🎄Pi Gamma Club for their donation of extra gifts that were delivered wrapped and ready
❤️Most importantly the families who trust us to care for their loved ones. There's something truly special about the connections between staff, residents and their loved ones here at Prairie Senior -- events like these remind our staff why we do what we do. Thanks for letting us be apart of your loved ones' life!

There is a HIGH WIND WARNING starting this evening through tomorrow evening -- after much thought and consideration, we will still proceed with our residents' Christmas party as planned for tomorrow, Thursday the 18th. There are so many moving parts and preparation that go into this event, rescheduling is quite difficult.

We want to caution all guests to stay safe and travel at their own discretion. Our staff will be capturing all the fun with designated photographers assigned and sharing on our page. We understand this can be a disheartening choice to have to miss this event if traveling is not a safe option, but we strongly urge all guests to stay safe and travel at their own discretion.

Santa ensured us his sleigh of reindeer are prepared to arrive in time to deliver presents and our residents will have plenty of cheer to go around!

Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Yahtzee.. we are loving our game afternoons on the colder days! 🎲

We had a busy day yesterday!

A quick trip to Gem for the Lions Club Pancake Feed for lunch 🥞🍴

Then we packed the dining room to enjoy the talented Colby High School Choir. They performed their concert list from the night before right here at our facility for our residents! 🎼

To each and every contributor, from the bottom of our team's heart we thank you for your generosity! Absolutely wonderful and moving how many of you participated and helped us fill the stockings for our party next week.
