Join them in commemorating this milestone with special events, programs, and tours across four historic properties on Long Island. As one of the most historic regions in New York, Long Island played a pivotal role in the American Revolution.
Preservation Long Island’s houses, gallery exhibitions, and archives reveal how local people shaped the founding of our nation—from Colonel Josiah Smith’s 1776 Minute Men records to the writings of Jupiter Hammon, America’s first published Black poet, who was enslaved on Long Island.
