October is Infant Loss Awareness Month✨
As the month comes to an end I wanted to share my experience with miscarriage. 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. As a doula, and a woman, I know this. And it is something I never thought would happen to me, until it did.
July 26th, I went in for an 8 week ultrasound to confirm our third pregnancy and there was no heartbeat. Baby had stopped growing at 7 weeks and 1 day.
The shock.
The disbelief.
The anger.
The sadness.
The wondering and waiting when the actual miscarriage will happen.
The INTENSE pain during the miscarriage.
I was unprepared and shocked at the amount of bleeding that happens during a miscarriage.
I had so many feelings like my body failed me (even though I knew that wasn’t true).
We were so excited to tell our other children, all to have that gone, so fast.
Going through all of the postpartum ups and downs without any of the joy.
Just as we wrapped our heads around adding another person into our family, they were gone.💔
I hope by sharing my story this makes at least one other person feel less alone.
