Let’s talk about the beef tallow trend 🥓
I like to explain it this way:
Imagine cooking a pan of bacon. When you’re done, you’re left with grease.
Now imagine taking that grease and using it as your moisturizer.
That’s essentially what beef tallow is — rendered animal fat.
Yes, it’s natural.
Yes, it can feel moisturizing at first.
But here’s what your skin actually experiences:
Beef tallow is extremely occlusive, meaning it sits on top of the skin and traps everything underneath — oil, bacteria, sweat, and dead skin cells. For many skin types (especially acne-prone, congested, or sensitive skin), this can quickly lead to clogged pores, inflammation, and breakouts.
Now let’s add the sun into the equation ☀️
If you apply an animal fat to your skin and then go outside on a sunny day, you’re essentially heating that grease on your face. That trapped heat can increase inflammation, worsen redness, and stress the skin barrier — especially without proper SPF protection.
Skin thrives on ingredients that are:
• Formulated at the correct molecular weight
• Balanced with humectants, lipids, and actives
• Designed to support the skin barrier without suffocating it
There’s a big difference between feeding your body and feeding your skin.
Skincare isn’t about trends — it’s about biology, formulation, and consistency.
If it belonged in the kitchen first, let’s think twice before putting it on the face.
When in doubt, ask your esthetician 🤍
Your pores (and your future skin) will thank you
