At Carespring, we often say our care "feels like family," but Sandy and her mom, Susan, are a true testament to that promise.

As a key member of our Admissions team, Sandy spends her days guiding families through the emotional journey of placing a loved one. During the pre-admission process, one of the most common questions families ask her is: "Would you place a loved one here?"

Because of her experience with Susan, Sandy can answer with a confident, heartfelt YES!

Sandy has the rare perspective of being both the professional and the daughter. When it came time to find the best care for her own mother, she chose the very team she works alongside every day. Her personal journey allows her to lead with even more empathy, knowing exactly what our families are feeling during a difficult transition.

Thank you, Sandy, for trusting your Carespring colleagues to care for Susan, and for the many families you guide through the process with such grace. We are so honored to have you both as part of our community!

Wishing everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day! 🩷This year, we are shining a spotlight on Diann and Richard.

After a chance meeting in activities, these two realized they had found something special. As they put it, "God brought us together." Following a beautiful courtship supported by their loved ones, they recently tied the knot surrounded by family, friends, and the Doverwood staff in our very own Chapel!

We are so grateful to have witnessed their journey. May their story inspire you to keep your heart open to the unexpected joys of life!

We’re taking a moment to celebrate Dillon, a former member of our Dietary Department at Sycamorespring Health Care Center. Dillon spent nearly a year with us, following in his mom’s footsteps by joining the Carespring team. While we miss seeing him in our halls, we couldn't be prouder of his next move!

Dillon has officially enlisted in the Air National Guard, where he’ll be training as an aircraft hydraulic mechanic. It’s no surprise to us that he’s taking his dedication to the national stage.

Thank you, Dillon, for the hard work you put in here at Sycamorespring and for your commitment to our country. We’re all rooting for you as you tackle basic training! 💙

At Dayspring of Miami Valley, the hallways are often filled with the sound of hymns and the echoes of laughter—usually thanks to Thelma. A resident with a sharp wit and an even sharper talent for the keys, Thelma has been a musician since she was 13 years old, though her start was a bit "striking."

Growing up in Beavercreek, Ohio, Thelma learned the piano under the watchful eye of a teacher she describes as a “cranky old woman” who wasn’t afraid to use a ruler. "She’d slap my hands if I missed a note," Thelma recalls with a grin. "It certainly encouraged me to learn quickly!"

That discipline turned into a lifelong passion. As a young woman, she played for her school and church, often practicing for hours at home—to both the pleasure and, occasionally, the annoyance of her parents. Her first piano held a special place in her heart; a gift from her father. She named that first piano "Bunky," after her own childhood nickname. "It was well-made and had a beautiful tune," she says. "They don’t make them like that anymore."

While Thelma also played the clarinet in her school’s marching band, her heart remained with the piano and organ. She fondly remembers playing her favorite hymn, "How Great Thou Art," for her father throughout his life, eventually performing it one final time as a tribute at his funeral.

Despite her musical grace, Thelma is the first to admit she wasn't always a "quiet" student. When asked about her childhood, she jokes, "I was a brat and I enjoyed every minute of it!"

Today, Thelma is a vital part of the Dayspring community. Whether she is cracking a quick joke or playing for staff and residents during chapel services, her spirit shines through every note. We are so honored to have Thelma sharing her history, her humor, and her incredible musical gifts with us.
