A group of our students and staff, alongside Deputy Jarred Mumm, were again honored for their life saving actions on July 20, 2025. They received the Heroes of the Heartland Award from the American Red Cross.
On that day, Deputy Mumm was dispatched to a rollover accident where a vehicle had landed upside down in a water-filled ditch. The Sheepgate bus was on their way to church when they happened upon the accident along their route. Without hesitation, staff and students made the decision to stop and help. With courage and teamwork, Deputy Mumm and Sheepgate staff and students waded into the water, rolled the car upright, and forced open the driver’s door—allowing first responders to reach and save the occupant.
We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for stepping into danger without hesitation. Their courage and selflessness are a powerful reminder of what it looks like to serve others.
