🐎Hello! With so many different therapy options being brought into the horse world, I just wanted to give everyone a quick reminder and overview on my beliefs and training as a certified equine sports massage therapist.
The initial training I received through Midwest Natural Healing for Animals, was 90 hours of course work AND hands on. We went over case studies of muscles, gait analysis, saddle fit, hoof care, biomechanics of horse and rider, and more! The root of this certification is to try and help figure out what is causing your horse to be in pain, and we focus on helping correct that any way we can.
The hands on portion of the certification gets your hands on the muscles for DAYS and on multiple types of horses. Feeling the tension and knots and location of pressure points/trigger points. Feeling how those muscles release under your hands and exercises to help build the weak areas we may find.
Helping a horse is NOT a one stop shop. Some horses only take a session or two and then can be on a normal maintenance schedule for body work. Others take time. Time to heal physically, and time to heal mentally. With that being said, I believe in helping your horse be their healthiest self. I'm not going to promise you the moon, promise you 1D times, championship buckles, or world championships. I'm here to help you keep your horse as pain free as possible. I communicate with other equine practitioners such as: vets, farriers, dentists, chiropractors, and trainers to pretty much form one super team for your horse 😂. My network becomes your network, because it takes a village to care for these beautiful animals, and what I CAN promise you is that your horse's happiness is our first priority.
So this show season take the time to get to know the different body workers in your area, and what they promote and practice. And always ask us questions! If we don't know the answer we will definitely figure it out and get back to you about it. We are always learning! ❤️
If you have any questions, please reach out! Thanks for coming to my TED Talk! 😂
